2025 MLAX Schedule

We scheduled as tough as we could. The hurt to our ranking is the conference schedule. Without 6 teams there would be no automatic bid and that avenue is not something we want to lose. The teams ranked ahead of us play in conferences that are stronger top to bottom including the ACC which with five teams doesn't receive an automatic bid but nevertheless had four of their teams in the tournament. Now if there was some way the ACC wanted to expand to 6 and asked us to join for lacrosse...............(no that is not going to happen.) Our option is to continue the toughest out of conference schedule possible and qualify, win, and advance in the tournament. Finishing number 7/8 in final polls is quite remarkable considering the realities of our situation. It is a testament to the quality of our players and coaches.

Here's the strength of schedule reference table. Richmond, High Point, and St. Joe's schedules put them in the top 30. All of the ACC teams are in the top 10 which is part of the reason they play each other so often - including their "tournament" which is mainly to pad their SOS and for PR purposes crowns an ACC winner.....................

Has it been confirmed that UMass will be able to stay in the A-10 for men’s lax? Have not seen an announcement about a home for them, but have to assume something has been decided.

UD isn’t what they used to be, but they’re a middle of the pack program that can hopefully make a push to improve. Not gonna move the needle in terms of quality wins, but at least they won’t be a huge drag. Just gotta keep scheduling tough OOC.

I think so since the MAC does not sponsor men’s lacrosse. Adding Delaware is an overall net positive in my opinion, but we need to be mindful as a conference not to add too many teams as that is where our RPI and SOS will be lowered. Can’t get rid of the Bonnies since they are an A10 member but in an ideal world, Hobart would not be in the conference.

Yeah, at the time of the MAC announcement, UMass said they'd be looking for a home for men's lax (and a couple of other sports not sponsored by the MAC). Presumably they'd prefer to stay in the A-10 for lax rather than find a new home, and the thinking was that the A-10 would allow them to do so rather than kicking them to the curb, but I can't find any confirmation that was ever made official.

Here’s the closest thing I found from this inside lacrosse article regarding Delaware joining A10 MLax.

“The A-10 conference announced the move on Monday following its annual business meetings. UMass, a longtime A-10 full member that is moving to the Mid-America Conference, will remain an affiliate in the A-10. High Point and Hobart are also affiliates in the A-10.”

Back up the dump truck full of cash for Silas Richmond! He should be target #1, 2 and 3 for us in the portal, even if he’s not in the portal.
