2025 MLAX Schedule

I don’t relish the idea that Joes could end up the 4th seed v UR on their home turf in the A10 tourney
I do. What better way to get the monkey off our backs against the Hawks than beating them twice in a row at their home field. Sick and tired of losing to them and I bet our guys feel the same. Reminds me of Air Force who kept beating us for the longest time before we were finally able to beat them in SoCon Tourney.

lol, laugh all you want 32 but good teams want to rise to the occasion and beat the best and right now Saint Joe’s have been the team to beat in the A10 not us. I doubt Chemotti reads this forum but I am pretty confident he would say the same thing.

Edit: thanks for boosting my reaction score 32. Appreciate it! Fact of the matter is only people with a loser mentality don’t relish these kinds of opportunities. Not saying UR will win or not, but these are the games you want to play.

The games I want us to play are in the NCAA tourney. Whatever the easiest path is is fine with me.

I want us playing in the NCAA tournament too, but you can’t control who you play and when sometimes. If we’re going to play Saint Joe’s twice back-to-back so be it. We should embrace the opportunity and not be afraid of it. They have had our number the last 2 years. As a competitor you want to win those games. That’s why you play the game. If you aren’t going to be fired up and relish the chance to beat your rival 2 times in a row at their home field after they’ve beaten us several times the past couple years, then you’ve already lost the mental battle.

Obviously.

I happen to agree with 32. You state the obvious. We can only play who is front of us. I wouldn't necessarily be wishing for SJU back to back but if that's the way it turns out, so be it.
Fair enough. All I’m saying is you have to relish the opportunity to play a great team like Saint Joe’s twice. You don’t choose your opponents. Otherwise they already start the game with a psychological advantage. To be honest, this discussion was way more than I thought it was going to be because I agree with you, it seems obvious to have that mentality. There’s like a 90% chance we play St. Joe’s twice in a row. Let’s embrace it.

It’s also more frustrating when you also consider the fact that the A10 is probably the best it’s been in its short history with 3 teams in top 25 at one point. Sadly, the margin of error is very slim for an at-large because of Ivy, Big 10, and ACC and the tournament being only 17 teams, and only 8 of which are at-large. Hopefully with the addition of Delaware next year, A10 can bump past Patriot League and Big East for 4th best conference in the country.

18 teams this year with the NEC getting an auto bid, but still 8 at-larges. Of course, the ACC has no auto bid and will take 4 of the at-large slots.

I personally (biased) think we’re ALB worthy but don’t think we’ll get credit for two top 10 one goal losses.

That being said I think it’ll take a combo if an A10 team playing their best game of the season combined with our worst to lose to any A10 team.

Just go out and win the whole thing and remove all doubt. Who knows maybe with some luck will get to host a 1st round game?

Very sobering history against the Hawks..........

Am sure the team is well aware of it and will be motivated.....................
Just need to go by the UR record book, which errantly substituted in an 11–8 win over St. John's on 3/25/23 for the 14–12 loss to St. Joe's that actually happened on 4/1.

“No. 10 Richmond -2 at No. 17 Saint Joseph’s

We’ve given plenty of flowers to the Atlantic 10 this season on the Weekend Watch. The middle of the pack has been a war between St. Joe’s, UMass, and under-the-radar High Point. Richmond continues to quietly go about their business with a strong defense and stellar offense. The Hawks may have been caught looking ahead to this matchup last weekend in their upset loss to High Point. Richmond, meanwhile, dispatched the Minutemen, 14-5. They’ll now head to Philadelphia to lock up the outright A-10 Championship with their eyes focused on a deep May run in the conference and NCAA tournaments.”

Inside Lacrosse

3–2 Spiders after one thanks to a Sheridan goal with just a few seconds left in the quarter. On the ensuing face-off following the goal, Pilling got absolutely blindside hammered by a 6'6", 226 lb Hawk. Pilling limped off and the Spiders will have a man advantage to start the second.

Spiders with the upper hand in most areas of the game, but the Joe's goalie has made a bunch of stops to keep it tight.

Really hate the low camera angle.

Spiders now have four unanswered to push the lead to 5–2. Really just dominating the game....6-of-7 on face-offs means we just keep getting possession.

7–5 Spiders at the half as the Hawks get some payback with a goal in the final seconds.

We're outshooting them 30–13...just need to do a better job of putting them on target and past the goalie. We've hit the post at least three times.
