Actually, Laulette wasn't even hit on that play. Knee went out on its own.We lost Lauletta at W&M, cost us a top 4 seed and a legit shot at a NC

Until we don't go undefeated in the league and we lose good recruits, then it matters.Who cares as long as we get the bid?
Lehigh and Holy Cross will give us a run. Lehigh could be a tough out this year.Until we don't go undefeated in the league and we lose good recruits, then it matters.
Or we don't lose recruitsUntil we don't go undefeated in the league and we lose good recruits, then it matters.
we beat a solid team today, don't take away from their efforts.I was shocked that William and Mary underperformed this season. They had almost the same team back from last year. They seemed to come out flat today. It felt like they were just dialing it in.
You are correct. A case in point: This was a dominant effort by the offense and defense. They had the ball for all of 3 and one half minutes in the 3rd Q. That is an incredible statistic.we beat a solid team today, don't take away from their efforts.
One sack in particular came with UR rushing only 4 men (against 5 blockers), which sort of said it all about the effort of the Spiders.
We made them look flat. OL and DL. Tribe is a very good rushing team. They couldn’t run on us and we wore them down on offense. Beautiful simple football.I was shocked that William and Mary underperformed this season. They had almost the same team back from last year. They seemed to come out flat today. It felt like they were just dialing it in.
I am guilty as charged of trolling W&M. After all, they are the ones who picked fights against us at the end of the game. They were classless.lol do u have any original thoughts? Direct post from the W&M message board thread u linked…
“The really bad thing about that sack was it came with UR rushing only 4 men (against 5 blockers), which sort of said it all about the effort of the Spiders as opposed to the effort by W&M.”
Also, I don’t really get the point. 4 man rushes get sacks commonly. Beat your man 1 on 1.
However I agree dominant win credit to Spiders tho a little surprising W&M rolled over like that too.
Here some other great comments found, while trolling W&M on their virtual reservation. How sweet it is.There may be a glimmer of hope over on the Reservation. But in trolling their message board... we see some depressing comments:
"Chance to make them share the CAA title. Chance to tie the series back up. Chance to end the season, and a few remarkable careers, on a high note. Chance to win the Capital Cup. Chance to put on tape for NFL scouts, and roster spots next season. A lot to play for this weekend." [it is sad to see what they have fallen to]
"This is our chance to bring some shine to the program after a remarkably disappointing season. Let’s kick UR’s butt as they fully walk out the CAA door, give our ‘25 recruits a shot in the arm, and send our departing [edit: I think he means their "dearly departed"] on their way on a high note."
"Jim Mora is screaming in my ear as I type. Maybe a win tomorrow also means that the season is not over."
"I agree that Richmond has had a bunch of tight wins against underwhelming teams (which is one reason that I am hopeful for the Tribe this weekend)."
"I also think that the fact that W&M was not one of the four unranked teams to move into the Top 25 tells us all that we need to know about how we will be treated by the committee (assuming we beat Richmond). Our only hope is that we win and New Hampshire loses and it wouldn't hurt if one or more of N. Arizona, UT Martin, and E. Kentucky also lose. Then the committee would be forced to take us."
"Even a win over Richmond won’t be enough to get William & Mary into the playoffs. A loss to Stony Brook puts the Tribe behind the Seawolves and the Seawolves may already be behind New Hampshire who beat it. That puts William & Mary behind two CAA bubble teams, and that’s not including Villanova. There might just not be enough spots for the Tribe to get in."
That was a great hit. It set the tone for the entire game. I heard it from my vantage point in the stands.Biggest play of the the game? Play #1, Zach Chambers...if you were there you know what I mean. Message sent
thanks 3gen...100% thumbs up and wows on this...a magnificent message that we were going to whip them physically all over The Brick House!Biggest play of the the game? Play #1, Zach Chambers...if you were there you know what I mean. Message sent
If we win Patriot League we get bid. The point is that the chances of Patriot getting more than one bid is not good in current configuration. On the other hand, CAA is a multi bid league, and chances are much better for finishing 2-3 or 2-4 and getting bids; not happening in Patriot.Who cares as long as we get the bid?
Complete BS. Then our win should be counted as a
If any group understands tasteless, it is the Tribe. Enjoy every moment. After that hit I stood up and yelled "Welcome to Richmond" only to receive several icy stares from the Tribe faithful. It was priceless (perhaps tasteless too), but enjoyed it.
It’ll depend on our OOC scheduling which is set for the next few years, but more down the road. Also, imagine that other patriot league teams will continue to rise in competitiveness. Even if we lost to W&M yesterday we would’ve gotten in as an at-large and our SOS was 113 out of 136 (don’t remember exactly but towards the bottom of FCS) like a week ago. I can’t imagine our SOS will be worse than that in Patriot League. If we win Patriot League we get bid. We would have gotten in with a loss to W and M as the CAA historically is regarded as a stronger league than Patriot League and CAA is a multi bid league. Question - how many years has Patriot gotten more than one team? I’m not sure your assumption about rise in Patriot competitiveness is valid. Possibly adding us into fold adds to that and if WM and Villanova eventually come over that strengthens the PL; otherwise there isn’t quantification to support a rise in PL competitiveness. Moving forward I’d hope we initially dominate that league and will get autobid. But counting on 2 or more bids is suspect. I doubt that a handful of wins over that competition in that league is much of a consideration factor. If it was, they’d be getting multiple bids. PL will go to 2 bid league. 2 over 8 ~ 4 over 15. Not a lot of difference. A 15 team league should get multiple bids. It’ll depend on our OOC scheduling which is set for the next few years, but more down the road. Mojo, are you going to do a Countdown for Lehigh? We don't want to break the mojo. It's been a great season watching your commentary and updates.
there's a lot of football to be played by the Spiders and Indians between now and November 23, but wouldn't it be something if this game had CAA Championship implications for the third year in a row?...obviously things have to go well for both squads, but playing almost identical CAA schedules it could happen again!
I need to get the name of this rivalry straight...it's been played 134 times according to the UR Football Record Book...the Spiders retook the all time lead with last year's dramatic win...UR now leads 65-64-5...most publications call it "The Oldest Rivalry in the South", but I believe even non UVA fans acknowledge that the Cavs played UNC before our series with the Indians began in 1898...there is no question that the series is the "Most Played Rivalry in the South"...we've played the Indians 134 times...Virginia has played North Carolina a measly 128 times...UR v. W&M is the 4th most played rivalry in D-1 football...
Coach London believes the Tribe are ready to bounce back from last year's disappointing season...he's especially optimistic about his offense...they return nine starters, three of which were voted All CAA Preseason...included are star RB Bronson Yoder who leads a set of players at the skilled positions that London says are the best since he arrived on The Reservation! QB Darius Wilson also returns for his 4th season as a starter...the Indians will have to fill some big holes on the defensive side with less experienced players and newcomers...
with William and Mary picked to finish 4th and the Spiders 2nd this could be another classic battle perfect for this historic rivalry...what could be better than a late November afternoon at The Brick House as the CAA era of Richmond football comes to a close!
once again this season it's been my pleasure to put together the Opponents Countdown, but I'm sure glad it's over...it's time for some real football...I'm hopeful and optimistic that Spiders fans are going to have a lot to enjoy in the next 13 weeks...get your UR mojo going and support the program any way you can!
enjoy the Countdown!
Go Spiders!
