Although the cancelation of everything sucks I am super amped up for next year. I hope we schedule the hardest possible OOC schedule possible. Next year's team has the potential to be one of the best spider teams ever and we need to schedule teams that will challenge us. Use this thread to post any updates to the schedule that we know of. One f our first games that should be announced our midseason tournament. Normally those are announced near the end of the season

A little bit concerned about our exempt tournament prospects, as a lot of the main event fields have already been announced.

More than half of the A-10 has already been announced as in one, with the remainders being us, Duquesne, and the dregs of the conference. And most of the P6 teams have also been committed to announced events. Where do we fit in?

Dayton: Myrtle Beach Invitational
VCU: Charleston Classic
Bona: Paradise Jam
Rhode Island: Hall of Fame Tip-Off
La Salle (!): Cayman Islands Classic
Davidson: Maui Invitational
Saint Louis: Orlando Invitational
Mason: Junkanoo Jam

Richmond, Duquesne, GW, Fordham, St. Joe's, UMass: ????

MGM Resorts Main Event would be a nice one to get into...Louisville and Arkansas have announced they're in it and they need two more heavyweights.

Also, remember we're heading to Colorado State on December 5 for the MWC/A-10 challenge. At a NET of 106, that would have been a mid-Q2 game this season, so decent but not really résumé building. Not sure whether they're projected to be same/better/worse next year.

A shot at SDSU would have been great obviously, but they go to SLU. Utah State is at Davidson, but with Merrill presumably gone unless the NCAA gives the guys another year of eligibility, not sure if they're projected to be as good next year.

A mid-Q2 game this season would have made a huge difference had there been a selection process.

Do you think we could get UVA on the schedule if we paid them $50k to play them in C ville? Correct me if I am wrong, but I think UR is the only team in the state that Tony Bennett has not played during the regular season during his reign- Could be we played then in the CBI tournament ?

I don't know if I'd call it "huge," but it certainly would have been better than the vast majority of our OOC games.

To make a statement with the committee, you need high-quality wins, and we can't necessarily count on a lot of those in conference play. We got three Q1 shots in the OOC schedule this year, and we'd better have at least that many next year. Q2 was indeed the gap in this year's schedule, as we had none of those games. So CSU would be a nice add there, and I'd like to see more of them to replace some of the Q3/Q4 games. And have us win those games. :)

I would suspect that we will be an attractive prospect for an exempt tournament. We could be a fringy Top 25 team to start the year next year.

Was thinking this same thing the other day, but we shouldn’t have to pay them. They’ve played vcu when vcu was a ranked team or close to it. No reason they shouldn’t want to play us at JPJ, especially considering how much Bennett gushed over Mooney in that video when he broke the school’s wins record last year. Come on, Tony, throw us a bone.

The $50k figure of course was facetious. Just strange that we are the only DI school in Virginia not to have have played Bennett during the regular season . Spiderman, Gallipoili and others should get us an answer! You would have thought that Mooney could have gotten a game after the scrimmage last year at the Robins Center. Bob Black are you reading this. Enlighten us!

I completely agree, which is why I'm surprised we don't yet have a seat when the tables are almost full.

You are either at the table or on the menu. When eating, it is better to feast on turkey than crow. The future is bright, when one eats well.
