Lost 7-6 giving Lafayette it's second win in 15 tries.Spiders have been held scoreless for five innings after putting up 5 in the first, and now trail 6-5.
One negative to point out is that they ran all over us - 6 stolen bases in 7 attempts. That's something that hurt us during the Niagara series as well. We need to get better at controlling the running game for A10 play. SLU, Dayton and GMU all have over 30 steals on the season. There was a good amount to like yesterday:
Ultimately though, the 0-8 hitting with RISP killed us, along with a couple of base running blunders that had the hallmark of a team trying to do too much against a better opponent. Oh well...
- As MDspider mentioned, Jaffe had a two run HR in the first inning, and drew a walk later in the game, to attempt to get a rally going in the 8th which ultimately came up short.
- Bernstein keeps getting on base in the 2 spot, adding a hit and two walks to his season.
- Freshman Jackson Hinchliffe pitched a clean 6th inning in his first appearance of the season.
Friday night under the lights coming up next, in our final weekend series before A10 play!
So what, Mathes does not play for us any more. And they were 8-14 coming into this weekend. Blech. But hey on the positive side, Alden Mathes had the #1 play on Sportscenter a few days ago... for Clemson.
agreed9 walks given up by staff today and 11 walks yesterday. Won’t get it done.
Yep, that was my point..nothing good happening for us.So what, Mathes does not play for us any more.
