Last Spot?

Wondering what we will do here?

Not sure if Fan1's guard on campus was Apostolos?

As I posted on one of the threads, with the last spot - I would like to get a guy that can ace some of what we lost with Harris, Bigs and Dji - athletic, tough defender and rebounder. I also could see us going the route we went last year and getting a re-class guy. I do think our biggest need now is an athletic wing that can guard, rebound and slash to the basket. Between Robinson, Apostolos, Tanner, and McGlothin - we may have that on the roster now - but none are proven in college yet.

What does everyone else think?

Thank You Spider Nation

THANK YOU Spider Family…The last 4 years have been pretty great! Although it wasn’t completely smooth sailing, that is always part of the journey. I couldn’t be more proud of what Dji accomplished in his 4 years here at Richmond. He leaves here as a graduate, with an A10 Tourney Champ, NCAA Tourney trip, A10 Reg. Season Champ, the A10’s Most Improved Player and two NIT trips. He considers himself a Spider for life, as do the coaching staff and hopefully the fans will too.

I have enjoyed the board here for the last 4 yrs, made some friends from the board along the way and even found a nemesis🤭. We support Dji as he made this decision on his own but with counsel from us and his inner basketball circle. We are excited for what the future holds for him as he looks to make more of his dreams and goals come true! I’ve said on here multiple times that the reason he entered the portal wasn’t for money, but money is certainly something that plays a part in college basketball today. The opportunity to play in one of the best college basketball conferences in the country is something that Dji has dreamed about his entire life.

The staff is amazing and laid out how Dji can get to his goals of the NCAA’s and professional goals. Player development and playing in an NBA style system is also something that brought us in. Dji still has things to work on like 3pt shot and FT% which are fixable. I would never doubt my son’s ability to get better and certainly we are just thankful that Richmond and now LSU didn’t “see all they needed to see”🫣 There was one up here that said what my own child was and wasn't numerous times, now he's not a P5 guy(Yikes way off on that one) and won't play, won't be successful...jokes on that "know it all" Dji's decision is life changing...so cry more while you sit at your PC and google stats and plays. Shout out to Ply, Native, 8legs, SF, Sman, 23, 97, Sec 9, GKiller, and URfan1 , Spiderlaw, SpiderRick and many others that engaged in meaningful back and forth. If I left you out it wasn't on purpose...well, one was🫣

LSU has a solid history of basketball success and putting guys into the professional ranks and Dji is simply betting on himself. Obviously, he will also be able to get his Masters and is planning on an MBA. How many students are able to get two degrees, do what they love at the highest collegiate level, have put some nice money in their pocket and leave college debt free? We will be pulling for the Spiders every season and I hope to return in the future for some games.

This isn’t Will Wade's LSU and Coach McMahon is an amazing coach and their staff is top notch and have a track record of developing their players and doing it the right way. The only downside for mom and dad is the distance…we will miss being able to get in the car and be at every home game as we did here. I will end with this…the love and support that Dji has received from the fanbase not just this year but all 4 yrs has been great. The support from almost all of you guys on the board has been great. Thank you for the love and support you have shown and as I said earlier…we are Spiders for life and we hope that the fans see us that way as well! #OneRichmond🕷️🏀❤️

Congratulations Class of 2024

Congratulations to the UR Class of 2024. Lots of talk about the value of a UR degree, so figured the Forum should have a post about it. I know all the players have to work especially hard with the demands of their sport as well as the demands of the classroom and have heard comments from at least one about the commitment to both sides of the spectrum. I really admire the student athletes, who may be becoming a rare breed.

All the Mom’s will be very happy and get double celebrations today, which I think is somewhat cool. I graduated on a Mother’s Day as well.

Congratulations Spider grads and look forward to your contributions to society!

Only fair that Dusan gets his own thread along with Manon and Beagle.

Introducing the 2024-2025 Transfer Portal Tracker!

For the last two offseasons, I've been tracking our transfer portal recruitment activity by posting screenshots of a spreadsheet to the transfer portal thread. To allow this to become more of a living document and give you all access when ever you'd like, I've made it into a Google Sheet so everyone has easy access to view at their leisure. Below is the link that you can bookmark or save for easy access:

Richmond Basketball 2024-2025 Transfer Portal Tracker

If you have any suggestions on stats/data you'd like to see added, formatting, or anything else that would be helpful, please post below and I'd be happy to incorporate. I'll try to keep this updated as much as possible, but definitely let me know if I'm missing something you find. Hope everyone enjoys this!

2024 Baseball Season

The 2024 baseball schedule just released, link is below. Only two games against power conference opponents (BC & UVA) and looks to be a pretty soft schedule overall, which makes sense for what will be rebuilding team with a first-year coach. Also, the Atlantic 10 Baseball Championship has now been moved to a neutral site at the new Capital One Park outside their HQ in Tysons Corner.

"UR will host non-conference series against Mount St. Mary's (Feb. 23-25), Marist (Mar. 8-10), Cornell (Mar. 15-17), and single games versus Princeton (Mar. 11) and Lafayette (Mar. 13) before heading south for a weekend series at High Point (Mar. 22-25).

The 2024 Central Virginia Challenge opponents include Boston College (Mar. 1), Sacred Heart (Mar. 2) and Central Connecticut State (Mar. 3).

Richmond will also face in-state non-conference foes: William & Mary (Feb. 20), at James Madison (Mar. 6), home (May 14) and away (Mar. 19) against Old Dominion, at 2023 Men's College World Series participant Virginia (Mar. 26), against VMI (Apr. 9), home (Apr. 16) and away (Apr. 2) against Longwood, and host Norfolk State (Apr. 23). The Spiders will also split a home (Feb. 27) and away (May 7) series against Towson.

The Spiders host Atlantic 10 Conference series against George Mason (Mar. 29-31), George Washington (Apr. 12-14), Dayton (May 3-5), and crosstown rivals VCU (May 16-18). UR will hit the road for league games against Fordham (Apr. 5-7), Davidson (Apr. 19-21), St. Bonaventure (Apr. 26-28) and Rhode Island (May 10-12). The 2024 Atlantic 10 Baseball Championship has moved to a neutral site at Capital One Park in Tysons, Va., over May 21-25."
