If you listen to Hannah you will hear an overtly self assured, confident golfer-athlete who thrives on winning individually and collectively and this is all taking place at Kingsmill ,the River course.
Can’t remember hearing someone like her at UR and only a freshman.

Thought the same thing - very impressive - confident but not braggadocious......and her love of the game of golf and doing her best to help the team ................

Hannah ended up shooting 65-71-69 to win the invite by 7 strokes. Weinfurther finished 4th.

In the team race, the Spiders had a 2-stroke lead on Elon heading into the final round, but couldn't hold them off so the Spiders and Phoenix tied atop the leaderboard at +13.

This seems almost nonsensical

”…Elon and Richmond both finished the tournament atop the team standings at 877 (+13). Based off a three-hole tiebreaker, using three players from each team, the Phoenix won the tournament with a birdie and an eagle…”

Yes it seems a "stretch" to use this particular method when there are more logical methods. That said am sure tournament organizers had some rationale for their tie breaking choice or perhaps "defaulted" to tournament management software.

Link shows variety of tie breaking options -

If Spiders had won the tiebreaker I would like it better!

UR release describes the tiebreaker as...

"The Spiders and Phoenix played a three-golfer, sudden-death tiebreaker following the completion of 54 holes, with Elon prevailing on the first extra hole to earn the team title."

Wow - seems antithetical to the pace of a golf tournament lasting several days- IMHO playing several extra holes and comparing scores would be a less abrupt ending -

After shooting a 68 today to move up to 2nd at the Nittany Lion Invite, Lydic's first two collegiate tournaments have yielded the two best tournament scores in Richmond history...11-under last week and 3-under this week.

Spiders have a 5-stroke lead after the first round of the Patriot League championship on their home course. Weinfurther and Wilkie are sitting 1–2 on the individual board as well. And Lydic hasn't gotten into a groove yet, shooting a +6, so hopefully she can turn it on.

Spiders win the Patriot League championship by 16 strokes over BU.

BU's Christy Chen easily took the top individual spot by 5 strokes, but then it was all Spiders with Zhu in second and Wilkie and Weinfurther tying for third.

Believe that sends them to a regional, but I must admit to not knowing which one.
Think this is the Spiders third championship for the Women in five years or so, maybe six.

Well done ladies.

Fourth Patriot League championship for the Spiders, but their first since 2018.

And yes, this qualifies them for a regional, which won't be known until selections are announced on Wednesday as the committee tries to balance the quality of all six regionals.

Closest one would be Raleigh, but not sure how much geography plays into it.

Last year's champion BU was sent to Nashville, though there wasn't really a northeast site that would have been a better geographic fit. Ann Arbor would have been the only closer one, but it was a flight wherever they ended up.

In 2021, Navy was the Patriot champ and was sent to Stanford. Weinfurther qualified as an individual for the Spiders since she won that Patriot title, and she went to the Ohio State regional.

Spiders set Patriot League Championship records for lowest single team round (287) today and overall score (874), and Barlow was named coach of the year.

Lydic was named rookie of the year despite not having a great championship, finishing 20th overall and 6th among the Spiders.

I am getting old, seemed like it had only been a couple of years and I did not even check back it seemed so little time ago.

Thanks for update on regional selection criteria.

Well done and best of luck to this group of Spiders which ever region they end up in.

Spiders are headed to Raleigh as the 12 seed.

1. Wake Forest
2. Arizona State
3. Florida State
4. Florida
5. Arizona
6. North Texas
7. TCU
8. NC State
9. Purdue
10. Nebraska
11. Campbell
12. Richmond

There are six regionals with 12 teams at each site. Five from each regional advance to the NCAA champs in Scottsdale, as the NCAA has increased the total number from 24 to 30 this year to match the men's championship.

And it wouldn't be complete without a social media typo.
