Played golf with the a very nice guy, associate AD at Kansas (now retired). I mentioned we ( the Spiders) had knocked off the Jay Hawks in Lawrence. He looked at me like never happened? He’ll look it up and remember.......Tony ......Dobbins

Not only didn’t remember, kind of denied it.

He did begrudgingly admit football is pretty much irrelevant at Kansas. That’s obvious.

but a very good guy

I think is this is very logical. After the loss to Richmond he went home smashed all the TVs in house and then went to a bar were he proceeded to down 20 to 30 drinks, multiple bong hits and probably dropped some acid. I am sure a lot of bad stuff happened that night, but he didn't remember any of it 36 hours later when he woke up in a fetal position next to the dumpster behind the bar. Makes sense he doesn't remember the game. He is just lucky there were not phones with cameras back then.

Unless a hard core CBB fan, limited group realize UR baskets exists. Unless an academic, few realize the school exists. UR80, you shouldn't limit your PR work to this forum.:)

He might not have remembered it but some of the Kansas fans in attendance applauded the Richmond players as they left the court. Don't remember the name of the ESPN announcer who before the game said this game should not be taking place as Richmond didn't stand a chance.

I believe Bill Raftery called that game; I don't remember who the play by play guy was. That doesn't sound like something Raftery would say.

I'm sure Coach Self remembers it.

That win pretty much got us into the tourney that season - only our second at-large bid at the time. We were definitely a bubble team - I think we were one of the last four in.

Raftery's the best all time.

Kansas is a top 10 team so often each year is probably a blur for most of their fans. as big a game that was for us, we're not on their radar.

THAT was a week, Wins @Temple, @Xavier, @Kansas...

We won there at the end of December. We played Kansas later on in January after conference play started.

I always think the GW home game was closer to the big week than it actually was.

This discussion shows that when UR made statements as a basketball program and had Big years they beat great programs in OOC. We really have no margin for error w this OOC schedule this year. IMO to have a legit chance at an at large we need to win out.
