Why are we losing?
- most good teams get significant scoring from their guards, Spiders rarely do
- defensively we have trouble guarding the 3 point line
- offensively teams have figured us out and Mooney needs to adjust. Teams are taking us
out of rhythm by applying full court pressure and reducing our time in half court to get movement
- Spiders are poor ball handlers overall
- there is no continuity to the different lineups, meaning Mooney struggles to find a lineup that works
- Quinn is not a threat unless he is on the lower block and then he turns the ball over a lot either dribbling
or getting it knocked way. He needs to be quicker in his decision to pass out of double and triple teams
- we have talent but honestly this team is playing worse now than in December
- when will we finally mesh together, Lost to Bonnie’s twice who have all starters brand new. Is it coaching or what?

This offense we are playing looks nothing like what we’ve run for years and years. How many back cuts have we scored on this year? This is going to be a mess next year with no Tyler
No TJ and no Grant explains some of the diminishing back cuts.

Good post.

You are right. Our guards just don't score enough. College basketball is mainly about guard play, and scoring from that position. Goose would do much better with a scoring PG like Jacob, ShawnDre, Ced, or KA, and Nelson or Dji would do better with an off guard like Blake or Brothers. It has been a long time since we have not had a guard be a key scorer, and our best teams often had 2 of them scoring. Tyler is our only guy averaging double figures, and he is 11 for his last 54 from 3. With no one else shooting well, it's just hard to find points right now.

I agree Mooney is struggling to find the best lineups, and a lack of guard scoring is probably why. Not sure how to fix it, other than maybe giving Randolph and Roche more time?

My 3 keys keep showing up, and we will have a hard time winning without all 3: good PG play, good 3 point shooting, and good defense. They don't have to great, just good.

Think this is one of the best posts you've had on here.

You made an excellent point in the middle of your post. We are top to bottom very poor ball handlers. It maybe doesn’t turn into a turnover, but disrupts the rhythm, the drive, and getting off an open shot quickly. Even Tyler is a poor ball handler. We were really spoiled watching Gilyard, Golden and Cline.
