Why Anacostia?

I mean I get that there are three airports in the DC area that fly to more direct spots than Richmond does, but I am not sure that it's THAT big a deal that we need to start a tournament for it. The Richmond airport keeps breaking passenger records every month. It works fine. And it's not like we have a bunch of guys who are going to be flying to Mongolia or somewhere completely off the radar.

True. But if it can build into 2 neutral games against teams say #70 & #90 that could be helpful.

Why are we even playing in this? We got a crap match-up last year and another bad one this year. Everyone else plays in a low major conference, except for us.

Is anyone going to this game? at 10-1 you'd think we get some more people in the seats. hopefully so last year was a morgue & high point had more fans & I fear Radford could be the same way. And then you might get the W&M fans who stay and root against us. MGM/National Harbor is 10 mins at most away...so actually a pretty nice little Sunday (per Frank the Tank).

No, there's a two-day, four-team tournament today and tomorrow, then separately on Sunday, we play Radford and W&M plays St. Francis. It is a little bit odd.

That tournament and location is of the same mindset of building Nats Park. The area was/is one of the most crime ridden in the nation and this is part of the efforts to improve it. Went to Anacostia many times in the Navy and one of the most dramatic was when an unauthorized vehicle drove onto the base and the military immediately had cars hemming it in.

I went to a Mystics game there this year. The arena reminds me a little bit of GWs arena, except most of the seats are on one side. If you take the Metro to Congress Heights stop theres a new pathway to the arena from the station. You dont have to walk on the street. Theres absolutely nothing around the arena as far as restaurants and bars, though. You'll have to go around the Navy Yard area for that.
