Non-conference play is over its time to predict the A-10. Consider that I see the most bids will be "3" from this league.
Post #129Davidson lost at Vandy last night. That win might look pretty good by the end of the year.
The answer my friend, is blowing in the wind...Did someone type something????
Good read.Review of A10 teams following OOC up from Blackburn:

Pretty fair assessment. I do love how other prognosticators from other conference programs that know us well identify our main weakness as Mooney.Review of A10 teams following OOC up from Blackburn:

I disagree with two things in the article.Review of A10 teams following OOC up from Blackburn:

I saw that, too. That would explain a bit of their under-performance so far. Didn't he tie Steph Curry's record against us last year?I did not realize that Frampton left school. Another one of our targets that flamed out in the A10 anyway. For a time he we was looking like a big time scorer for Davidson.
Not that it’s rocket science, but my take away from listening to Joey Buckets at halftime last night is that his focus is to get games against middling Power Six schools, as that’s who teams like Richmond will be going against for at large bids. I personally agree with the strategy, and hopefully it works out for us!I think most teams have scheduled wisely. Looking at the top teams and their best wins.
Dayton - Georgia, VT, and St. Mary's.
VCU - LSU (Loss to Purdue and Tennessee for other potential big wins)
URI - Providence and Alabama
Duquesne - 10 wins, but no big names
UR - Wisconsin, Vandy, BC
St. Louis - BC, Kansas State, Belmont
What this has done I think is put them all in a good position in terms of computer rankings, but these will alter because some of these teams will need to fall off - we can't have a league where the 1st place team is 10-8. We still need top teams to clean up - top 2-3 to maximize bid potential.

Not Bob Black. The third guy on the broadcast who does court side interviews. Not sure if his name.Did Joey get interviewed by Bob Black at halftime of our broadcast? If so I hope you took a shower immediately after listening to two Philly guys.
Joey, Jabba, Moon Man, and Philly Bob all had lunch together on Thursday afternoon. Confirmed.
Providence is awful. Kansas State is the worst team in the Big12. Vanderbilt and Alabama will be in the bottom 4 of the SEC. BC will be one of the worst 3 teams in the ACC. Belmont is a Quad 3 win for STL, you are really telling me that is a quality win? Duquense's OOC schedule is ranked 289th - awful. Outside of Dayton, the best win in conference is our win against Wisconsin with VCUs win against close behind. The rest of the conference, zero quality wins.
Well, the A-10 is one of the top rated mid majors after out-of-conference play. So, maybe the ADs know a little more than you do.
I'll put money down on Wilk in an IQ contest with A10 AD's.So, maybe the ADs know a little more than you do.
Well, right now Joey Brackets has zero A10 teams in as at large bids. Jerry Palm has only VCU as an at large and they are in a play in game. Busting Brackets also only has VCU as an at large as an 11 seed.
The A10 currently has 2 wins over teams projected to be in the tournament (other than lower conference projected automatic bids if there have been any) - Wisconsin and St. Mary's. So please tell me how the wins listed above are quality wins?
So maybe the ADs weren't that smart with their out of conference scheduling. It doesn't really matter where the conference is ranked overall if teams are not going to make the tournament, unless of course you think competing to make the tournament is enough and it's ok to fall short.
I thought today might be for the 3rd NCAA team. From what I've seen so far, URI and SLU are not as good as advertised. My current prediction is Dayton, VCU, Spiders, Duquesne as the top 4. Dayton and VCU will be the only two bids unless someone else upsets and wins the A10 tournament. Obviously very early in conference but URI and SLU do not look very good.
Most rankings have the A10 anywhere from 6-9 which is respectable. If your statement is predicated on the preseason top teams like Davidson or SLU underperforming it’s been made up by others like Duquesne and UR overperforming. It’s a bit hyperbolic to say it’s not a very strong conference.Duquesne has zero shot at at large with their pathetic OOC schedule. My point was more that the A10 is not a very strong conference this year.
