The Doghouse
It is clear that the Biden family is corrupt and has compromised Joe Biden. The data on Hunter Biden's laptop, according to both the NY Times and the Washington Post, proves Hunter received millions from foreign governments.
Once Republicans gain control of Congress, they will hang these scandals around Joe Biden's neck.
They will link Joe Biden's weakness on the world stage to his son. They will claim Biden did not act to protect Ukraine because the Russians and the Chinese blackmailed President Biden.
They may even impeach him.

This country needs to pick a president who is not tainted by the stench of foreign entanglements.

The Russian Collusion Hoax so damaged the Trump Administration that they were unable to effectively handle rising threats from Russia. The same cloud, as well as the January 6 issue, will hamstring a new Trump Administration. The country does not need that.

We should not sacrifice this country's stability to satisfy the ego of Donald Trump. Although I must say he is much better than either Joe Biden or Kamala Harris. It is not even close.

The Republican bench is very strong, the Democrats not at all.
The best options for President are either Mike Pence or Ron DeSantis for President and Nikki Haley as Vice President.

Pence would be the best choice to challenge Donald Trump. Pence is the only one who can say credibly that neither Biden nor Trump should be our next President.

This! Don't want Trump, but his policies far preferable over current Admin.

I would love to see Mike Pence run. He is the only one, who can stand up to Trump and tell him he was off base.
There is no excuse for Trump losing Georgia. He also cost us 2 Senate seats. We now have a run away Imperial Presidency, run by nameless and faceless individuals. There is no excuse for it.

I wrote in Governor Hogan in the last election. It looks like he may be running too.
A Republican Governor that was an anti-Trumper

Larry Hogan would be an outstanding Presidential candidate. He overcame a terminal cancer diagnosis his first 6 months in office. He said it was like a punch in the gut. He is a very personable guy. He would win the general election.

Larry is a great guy. He told me this story. Trump and Chris Christie were standing in a meet and greet line in Tennessee. One guy came through the line with a MAGA hat on. He took it off, handed it to Trump, and asked Trump to sign it. Trump took the hat, looked at it and said "I am not signing that hat. It is not one of my hats" He then handed the hat back to the guy and said "I am not signing it." Trump turned away. Apparently the fan had a very down trodden look on his face. Chris Christy said some very uncomplementary things about Trump.

Regardless of your political views, the choices in 2016 and 2020 Presidential elections were less than appealing. Were these the best of our best out of 330 million citizens? Like choosing between arsenic and cyanide. We as a nation must do better.

Why would anyone want to be president these days? The only people who are truly interested and able to win are those who have been in politics forever or those with huge egos who just want to have power. No normal person will ever have the chance to be president again because of what's required to get the backing of a political party.

Terry Macaullife is about as milquetoast as you could of gotten. Youngkin as well when you considered his republican counterparts but they were smart to avoid a primary so they didn’t wind up with Chase which would of guaranteed another tmac term. As much as the right likes to rail on Biden he is much closer to a classical republican than the liberal democrat narrative fox news viewers like to push. (For example he’s signed more oil leases in enviornmentally safe areas than Trump did, increased military spending, and appointing an AG that’s part of the federalist society a sober active think tank). We can thank reganomics for that.

Funny thing about that is when Trump signed oil leases the left freaked out.

It’s not one single thing. I still can’t grasp ardent supporters of the republican or democrat party don’t look at what the people they support do.

What do Levar Stoney, Glen Youngkin, Tim Kaine, Mark Warner, and George Allen have in common? They all share the same wealthy donors while they collect money, do nothing but divide regular americans and watch it for blood sport.

This entire system needs an overhaul and nothing will change since those in power stand to lose it and the perks that come along with it. Two sides of the same coin.

It’s not republicans or democrats so much the system. Rs and Ds exist to give us the illusion of choice. Politicians will do what they want.(See RVA casino vote)

I defer to the weed comment. What are you smoking? I refer you to the discussion about the Biden Doctrine...

Weakness abroad to support economic and societal spending and destruction at home.
What are you smoking? I just gave you examples as to him not being nearly as liberal as you think and all you can come with is a poorly organized juvenile comment with no actual examples other than a thread that has jumped off the rails months ago. I know its hard for many to grasp, but it doesn't matter if Biden or Trump is the president, working class American's get screwed while partisans such as yourself and other sides get off on blaming each other instead of asking who is funding all of these political candidates. The United States has two right wing parties. One has jumped the shark and the other just takes a ton of corporate money while paying lip service to progressive ideas while actually not passing anything meaningful to their voters. The elites from both sides LOVE that you are attacking me instead of asking the difficult questions.

Sometimes I don't even know why I bother coming over to the off topic board. Its more toxic and argumentative than the anti mooney threads.

You are correct. The Democrats take billions of corporate money and money from the Chinese and Russians to support the green new deal. Those policies are the same ones that have destroyed domestic energy production. It is these same policies that have caused a dramatic increase in gas prices. The Uber rich in Hollywood and do not care about the rest of us. If you have the stomach, I suggest that you read posts 7, 8, 9 and 10.

Joe Biden, Mark Warner, Tim Kaine and Abigail Spanberger have the blood of innocents on their hands.
Why stop there? So does your daddy Trump, Obama, Bush 2, Clinton, HW, Ronnie Raygun, Ford, Nixon, LBJ, JFK and any other politician that's served on a federal level for better part of 70 years. Notice they come from both parties? You let dems live rent free in your head while the real criminals are the people that finance this non-sense two party system are thrilled uninformed Americans on both sides of the isle blame each other while they make hand over fists profiting on dividing us.

Don't you ever get tired of blaming one group of people you don't agree with or do you need a dopemine rush because life is boring? I bet you have a ton more in common with those evil democrats then you think and I say the same to democrats, but both would just rather argue about wedge issues instead of economics. Fact of the matter is supporters of both parties have been had and way too many people don't see it for what it is and continue to act out in a toxic manner or see it as a personal attack against them when someone asks them to critically think outside the box.

Why stop there? ...
Your points are well-taken.
So, who do you think should be our next President? Joe Biden? Kamala Harris? Bernie Sanders? Elizabeth Warren? Or would you prefer a non-party candidate? From your rhetoric, you almost sound like a Trump guy- both parties are corrupt. However, you have distain for freedoms of capitalism and distaste for American Energy independence. You sound more like a Green Party person.

Government ownership of the mode of production is not the answer.

For the record, the government that governs least, governs best.

Making a lot of assumptions about me that are completely incorrect and I suggest I wouldn't make those assumptions unless you want me do the same about you. This is what leads to breakdown in political discourse and leads to name calling. Still too many buzzwords in your argument and not enough nuance.

Trump just spewed populist rhetoric to many hurting working class Americans that got screwed royally by both parties and struck a nerve with them. One of the reasons why I didn't like the media calling every Trump supporter racist is I knew a ton of Obama voters (Who was also a populist) that crossed over to him. He was not a republican and he never had any intention of fulfilling his rhetoric. Hell he didn't even expect to win it was just a money grab. Go look at the look of his face the night he won the election. He had an absolute look of dred that he won. The sad thing is he was uniquely elected to where he could of done some great bipartisan things to go after corruption but he just sat there and kept allowing it to happen on both sides once he got in office and began playing the exact same games they all do.

Think of the word capitalism (to capitalize.) What does that mean? If you capitalize you're taking advantage of someone or something for your own benefit and at the expense of someone or something. If that's what we want fine, I'm just tired of people thinking that this bastardized version of it isnt the problem, just the republican/democratic version of it. And if we just get rid of that half of the country everything will be fine. Its incredibly ignorant to think like that.

For a while it was at least regulated to a degree between both parties. These two parties are private corporations looking to raise as much money as possible. Its nothing more than a jobs program and financial windfall for media. There is a lot of money to be made in dividing americans. Ask yourself why are these major corps donating to both parties? Its because they both are bought out.

I always like to say Nixon was our last liberal president. Anyone after him as just been some form/variation of Ronald Regan (Excluding Ford). I know old conservative heads love him, but if you look into his history he was the one to set the country on the current course we are at and dems and republicans keep making it worse.

The problem with the two party system is its ripe for authoritarianism and gridlock. Most euro countries have between 3-8 parties so if one jumps the shark they die off. Here in America they can just hijack either party.

The two most non partisan presidental candidates to run were Andrew Yang and Bernie Sanders. I could stomach those two I suppose as they aren't bought off and spare me the Bernie is a socialist non sense. Hes literally a Eisenhower republican if you study your history. Eisenhowers marginal tax rate was for the highest income earners at 90% and Bernie isnt calling for anything close to that. I woulda taken Romney in 14 if it meant not having to have Trump as he divided this country in ways unimaginable.

I'm no longer affiliated with any party. Disgusted with all of them and the partisanship. I don't really have a party that comes close to my ideals and morals to be honest. Will find it hard to cast a vote for anyone taking corporate money as the second you start taking it you're compromised. It takes two to tango my friend and they'd rather us fight each other and divide us than find actual solutions to the problem they create. We have the illusion of choice. None of these guys running for office are genuine in their beliefs, just lining their pockets. I know my thoughts are in the minority of those that vote and I'm ok with that, just cant help but scratch my head at Stockholm syndrome we have for our economy when so many people are suffering and its obvious to anyone if they take some time to not be angry and look at it from 10k feet.

Anyone supporting democratic or republican candidates thinking they care about them is like thinking their stripper likes them. Many good americans have been had by this two party system. They're rightfully angry, but taking it out on each other instead of the political ruling class that pull at all our emotional strings.

Ferrum, hear you, but unclear as to what your views are to make things better. Multiple parties come with their own problems. Italy is a great example - 66 governments since WWII. If no party holds the majority, then we have a coalition Congressional majority that likely would be unable to get any more done than today with two parties. Could see a third major party, but beyond that don't see how more would be a benefit.

As to money, politics and monied interests have walked hand and hand basically everywhere, regardless of the system of governance (democratic to authoritarian), for all human history. Power and money are intrinsically intertwined. Don't see it changing unless basic human nature does.

Money in politics is bad, when foreign money is used to influence this government- like the Russians and Chinese supporting green initiatives in the US. Or when foreign governments have the ability to buy influence through family members to compromise our leaders- like Hunter Biden. Even Hunter admits the Russians have one of his laptops.

"Republicans shouldn’t forget who is to blame for their predicament. If President Trump hadn’t been preoccupied with imagined fraud conspiracies after the 2020 election, Republicans probably would have retained two Senate seats in the January 2021 Georgia runoff elections. Without Democratic Senate control, President Biden might have been forced to choose a more moderate nominee than Judge Jackson, or possibly a jurist older than age 51, with a shorter prospective Supreme Court career."

So, do you drive an electric vehicle?

I predict a victory by Rapael Warnock over Herschel Walker in the US Senate race in Georgia.
Donald Trump hand picked Herschel Walker. Herschel Walker had a tumultuous and violent relationship with his first wife.

Donald Trump is an idiot.

Cindy DeAngelis Grossman is an ex-wife of one of Herschel Walker. "The couple led a happy marital relationship for years until Walker started having trouble with a mental illness called dissociative identity disorder (D.I.D.). He first revealed his years-long struggle with a rare illness in his book called ‘Breaking Free.’
Amid the identity disorder, Herschel tried to kill his wife Cindy and threaten her several times. Grossman once said of Herschel, “There was somebody there that was evil.”

Just ask those folks that sat on 95 for 24 hours last winter. How did they like it when their battery had no charge?
Not sure what that has to do with anything I am saying. Interesting to see some people have a weird obsession with what type of vehicle they drive. I'd be livid stuck in whatever vehicle during that time frame since elected leaders from both sides (Who get paid handsomely by the auto industry) of the aisle think they can just widen their way out of that bottle neck that will only get worse as the state warehouses out of state tech bros. Wish we would invest in better public transit options but the second you do that car culture warriors will freak out and just scream as they debate you how its communism or whatever to do anything improving public transit.

Basically, I was saying that someone that comes into office with with no foresight as to how to move forward with weaning the country , or the world, off of fossil fuels, but just acts on it, is a fool.

What does this have to do with Gapoli asking what car I drive and my response? I'm not trying to be snarky I am just trying to connect the dots.

You started out talking about drivers on I95 out of the blue and then start talking about them running for office? Or are you implying Biden? The drivers make no sense and Biden has signed more Gulf Oil Leases than Trump which would factually be at odds with your argument. Not that I want this to be a ringing endorsement of either. I am not wanting to put words in your mouth though. I really don't get the point of your argument with regards to my response.

We don't have to worry about being weened off fossil fuels my friend. This government is owned, bought out by the fossil fuel industries which donates to both parties. Both parties couldn't care less about you or I but as long as people argue on one sides behalf they can cash their donor checks for doing nothing but making things worse.

Most of these issues were addressed in the energy thread.

Here is a good piece from the Atlantic.... even the socialists agree that Biden's condition is a metaphor for the tired and aging socialist agenda the democrats have put forward:

The “concerns about Biden’s age” matter received a fibrous super-boost on Sunday when The New York Times published a front-page report that was based on conversations with nearly 50 Democratic officials across the country. Almost everyone interviewed expressed “deep concern” about the elderly state of the man in the chair. Biden’s advanced age was presented as a kind of proxy for the tired and hobbled state of his agenda and the Democratic Party. To see the sentiment presented so universally among prominent Democrats was rather jarring."

Trump is supporting weak candidates, he chooses only those who kowtow to him. His hand picked guy in Georgia, Herschel Walker, is losing to Raphael Warnock by 10 points. Oz in Pennsylvania is losing to Fetterman by 9 points. Greitens in Missouri is leading in the GOP primary. Although Trump has not endorsed Greatens, Trumps entire family is helping Greitens. Greitens resigned from the Govership after a rape charge. All three will lose their elections. We will lose the senate, because of Dond J. Trump.

There is a lot of speculation that Trump will declare his 3rd run for the Presidency in mid September, before the 2022 elections. This speculation has come from the New York Times, so consider the source.
