This will probably be one of those weird cases where they fall just enough and we rise just enough for them to be ranked one spot ahead of us, which always seems stupid to me.

Did he move Va Tech from unranked to 8?? And boot UVA out altogether? Seems odd. But I'll take our ranking!

I like his rankings, really reflecting what is happening on the court. UVA lost to San Fransciso, they should have to earn their way back into the Top 25, not just drop 10 spots or so because they were preseason number 4. Tech beat a very good Nova team, probably 8 is a bit high, but that is a heck of a win for them.

I suspect in the AP, we are gonna be around 20-21.

Rothstein puts the Spiders at 23. SLU at 22 and Kentucky at 25.

I agree with Rothstein’s relative positioning based on all the games I saw. Have no idea what Goodman is thinking and Seth Davis VT is definitely playing like a top 25 team currently. The Hokies had a good start last year too then fizzled out.

Ya I think Tech is at best a .500 team in the ACC but likely below that. The ACC is too tough a league for them to do so well with very little size and not a ton of talent, they will get worn down over time just like they did last year.

A totally random list, but I couldn't resist the description...

Bauertology Top 25: Week 2 – BAUERTOLOGY (wordpress.com)

"12. Richmond (NEW)

Of all the mid-major teams not named Gonzaga, Richmond has been the most impressive thus far. Chris Mooney’s Spiders made a statement on Sunday with a 12-point win over Kentucky in Lexington. It’s important to note that star point guard Jacob Gilyard hasn’t been playing his best basketball (six points vs. Kentucky), nor have the Spiders been shooting the lights out from deep (28.6%). They’re not even playing at their peak right now, and they’re taking down perennial Final Four contenders on the road. That’s a truly terrifying prospect."
