I don't know what's happening. We win a game against one of the best teams in the country WITHOUT SHOOTING WELL.
After many years of playing soft finesse, we're playing aggressive, in-your-face, tough guy defense.
We are making critical, well timed free throws.
Mooney is using timeouts wisely.
We've been winning games in the last five minutes, after playing the other way for so many games.
Cayo is playing confident, solid, and letting the game come to him.
Gilyard, who I thought couldn't possibly have another gear, found one.
Burton playing like he's ready to hit someone in the mouth, and disappointed when he can't.

I've spent years cultivating my apathy. Now this........

Keep it going Rick - and to Burton's credit he played it totally cool and left Toussaint "to stew in his own juices"......................."and make his own boneheaded plays"...............
They're calling him dirty on the Iowa board. Lol. I'm calling it smart. Absolutely no credit to Spiders, all about poor coaching, poor officiating, bad basketball, tired legs, awful venue, no guards, rigors of playing in the B1G, and no fire. Love the disrespect.

Oh yeah - jealousy has been MIA.......................no one had any reason to trash talk us ...let's run up some more of that sentiment.......................

Just an observation, but we haven’t lost a game in the last 5 years that wasn’t 1000% Chris Mooneys fault, according to this board. Pot, kettle, and all of that.

did Burton do something I didn't see? I never see Burton talking. I did see he had his hands on Toussaint on th einbounds play, which Toussaint foolishly kept swiping away. that shouldn't be a big deal to anyone. was there something else?

Nothing else that I saw.

He and #2 were messing with each other on inbound plays. It boiled over to #2 running over Burton on purpose and getting a charge called on him.

You are now entering. . .the twilight zone. Da, Da, Da-Da, Da Da, Da-Da, Da, Da, Da-Da

Since next coach thread is locked I would like to use this opportunity to take a hard look at the young Randolph Macon coach. They just win the D3 national championship by 30 points., they rolled trough the schedule this year losing only one game early on the CNU!

The players will remember. Tough way to end your career.
Definitely tough. But at least 90% of guys end their college careers with a loss. For our guys, it could’ve been a loss by double digits to URI a week ago. Instead, it was a loss to a top team in the country, in the second round of the tournament. Proud of the guys regardless of todays result

We don’t need to de-legitimize the success our guys had down the stretch because of one ungodly shooting game by a top team in the country
I'm not de-legitimizing it. You can listen to the talking heads. Iowa, Davidson, Dayton...URI...all fantastic choke jobs

“Our success the last 5 games was because the other teams couldn’t make a shot” is de-legitimizing it. You’re saying our guys get no credit for those 5 wins in win or go home situations, but all the blame for losing badly today. Today was obviously a bad game but it doesn’t take away the A10 title or the tourney win

So Gilyard couldn’t hit the backboard, Burton had 5 points, we shot 1 3-pointer, and Golden looked
like a freshman.
But, I bet some of you experts are going to blame Mooney.
Mooney did have them ready to play though. Another 10 years!!! Yahoo!!

I think 4 years would be the max I would extend Mooney if I had any sort of inkling in keeping him. He hasn’t earned another 10 year extension that would handcuff the program again.

I’m not suggesting that. But keep in mind that if RI is paying Archie Miller 1.7 million per year for 5 years.
What has he done for Rhodie?
We have a bargain with Mooney.

But they had to hire a coach. Like signing players u overpay in free agency so to speak. Technically Mooney is a free agent but not the same situation & I really don’t see him having suitors. He’ll get an extension but we r still in good position to make that very reasonable & manageable unless we get burned again by a professional sports agent, we should know better finally by now.

He was already getting an extension before the A10 tournament IMO. Now it's totally up in the air how this transpires but we have a lot of time to figure it out.

They signed Mooney to that extension the next week, but they felt the pressure then. There should be no pressure now, unless they create their own pressure.

Hardt should wait and see how many offers Mooney gets from other schools before signing any extension. Safe to say there will be no interest, and negotiate from there.
