This will be a very interesting year in Spider Football. I am probably looking forward to this year more than any other in recent memory.
I think we certainly have the talent. I think the coaching staff has done a great job of getting a very talented group of athletes on the field this year.
What will be so interesting to watch is if that group of talent molds into a unified team and creates something special.
We have all kinds of kids coming in from every direction with all kinds of history with them. I think we have a great group of freshman coming in and that we will need to rely on some of them this year. We have FBS transfers coming in with a wide variety of playing experience and backgrounds and we might even have some walk-ons that make a difference and help the team prep.
And last but not least we have a significant set of new coaches coming in that will need to acclimate and integrate into the system.
Russ certainly has his fingerprints all over this team now, it is his staff - what will play out?
Early on I will be looking for signs of that chemistry which is so elusive for teams - I will be looking at body language, I will be looking for guys picking up other guys, I will be looking for coaches who care for their guys. I will be looking for that magic that separates the really good teams from the great teams.
