Me thinks that Russ knows he’s under the gun and Hardt has given him freedom to self correct.Russ has put loyalty on the back burner in order to make tough decisions in order to survive.
His attending the VMI v Chatty game last season was a stroke of luck for us since Jacob is on the Chatty staff.Billy Cosh’s offense was on full display that day..Russ’ critique of the UR offense continued to be overtly vocal throughout last season.Durden was in big trouble even though Russ and Durden go way back to Chatty with son Jacob as QB.It appears that Udinski coming to UR with Billy was an after the fact result of Billy’s hire.Dad Chris Cosh,our former DC,likely gave 2 thumbs up about the UR job to son Billy.Equally a stroke of Russ luck was having All American WR Herres enrolling.Both Herres and Udinski understand the Billy ball handbook.Wesley Satterfield abruptly hit the road when he didn’t get Durden’s job and is now the OC at Tenn Tech.With no WR coach and Winston’s contract with EE of the CFL not being renewed,it became perfect timing for both UR and Winston to hook up.Lots of alumni are quite happy about Winston’s homecoming especially surely Jeff Hanson,my ‘72 classmate.

Russ’ moves bode well for 2022 assuming we stay injury free.The expectations of Billy Ball should at least generate a much greater level of preseason interest in the program than we’ve had in many years.Not posting an automatic loss to JMU next season should help with those expectations.

Great to have Winston back with the Spiders. I agree 32, like the direction we are headed. Still would like to get some transfers to help both lines
