We have a friend in the ESPN broadcast booth

Shawn Kenney and Al Groh on the call.

Coach Groh called the last game, too. Seemed pretty complementary. Groh isn't too bad of a color guy. He should get more assignments if that's what he wants to do.

Sorry Bob and Chris, I might just have to tune out the Spider Broadcast. Al Groh really understands what the Spiders do.

I'd much rather have a friend dressed like a zebra than in the broadcast booth, but still pleased to have knowledgable broadcasters. It's shockingly rare.

Agree - the only one I could think of is NBA ref Curtis Blair but doubt he would want to be demoted to college football in light of this:The average salary of an NBA referee is from $150,000 to $550,000.

Troy Gray would be a nice zebra friend

Al Groh is an extremely knowledgeable commentator. We were very lucky to have such a keen football mind in the ESPN booth.Having a number of our assistants and Danny work for Al over the years added to his insight.

I like Al Groh as a color guy, too. But he did let his pro-Richmond bias slip in there a couple of times last night. I'm sure ESPN wants him to be neutral.
