W&M game canceled, Spiders play at JMU 4/17

Guess well play on the road there in the fall as well. Kinda lame playing them there 3x in a row. Cant complain too much because I assume well get WM 3x in a row at home.

Nothing like playing the #1 team to determine whether you make the playoffs. Win and we're in, but pretty sure we're out with even a close loss. Not many at-large bids to go around and CAA has us, JMU, UD, and Nova all vying for spots. An extra at-large spot did open up with the MEAC losing their auto bid, but that still makes for just six.

Yeah, definitely a make or break game playoff wise. On the positive side, we might actually knock them out of the playoffs with a win while clinching our own spot.... I wonder if the #1 team in any sport has ever been eliminated with its first loss of the year? I mean they're good enough to make it, of course, but if we beat them, they don't really have much to hang their hats on, so the committee would be taking them more or less based on reputation alone.

Naturally would prefer the game at Robins but in this strange spring Covid season glad we get the opportunity to play JMU. Do wonder how venue was decided since first scheduled JMU game was to be home for us? Maybe number of home and road games for each team played into the decision? We have played 2 home and one road and they have played 2 home and 2 road.

really disappointed we lost the W&M game, but psyched that we might get the ultimate measuring stick versus the Dukes with a Championship and FCS Playoff kicker...

does Vegas make odds on whether, or not, an FCS game will be played?

Go Spiders!

maybe W&M was just fearful of going behind in the all time series! But truthfully better to have that on the line in a real Fall game & with hopefully something even more on the line.

And as others stated getting the JMU game instead is a much better outcome & barometer all things considered.

sounds like the end of the perfect storm. sure gives us a chance to get our injured and sick folks back in the mix. just got 2 tickets. very easy and gracious fellow at JMU ticket office. you can get 2 or 4 ; no singles. concessions are open. no visitor sides, we will be scattered on JMU side. students will be behind our bench.

this whole "season" is a Joke. You mean Quelly can't find/buy 150 vaccinations? And no need to worry about playoffs. With all the cancellations there is no way they will be able to have playoffs.

Watch your wording, Mojo! We didn't "lose" the W&M game. :)

Kind of ridiculous that we have to play at jmu 3 times in a row. I would imagine jmu paid some kind of money to get this game at home or the CAA decided to give it to them because jmu is the crown jewel and they need them to keep their number 1 ranking and win the conference. Once again this shows we don’t take athletics seriously and jmu does, pretty easy to see based on the two programs results. It’s also possible that even if we win we would have to play jmu again as Harrisonburg is one of the regional sites for the playoffs and I’m sure they would stick us in that region if we get in. jmu vs UR has a chance to become similar to how one sided Tech vs uva is.

Back to my theory...I really think if we win, there's a decent chance JMU doesn't make the playoffs at all. If it's objective, they would have no good wins, and a near loss to a horrible team in Elon, plus a home loss to us. Nothing to hang their hat on.

You’re forgetting that they likely paid a nice sum to the NCAA to host a game.

Agreed. Its all about the NCAA trying to trim their losses on holding this tournament. We could beat JMU by 6 td's and they would be in with a home game or 3.

Rediculous we have to play at their dumping ground.

Purple gets to keep gate of 7500 x $30=$225,000

That should payoff the cost of their site selection bid.

unless Hardt/Walsh negotiated something else.

Maybe Purple is paying the cost of the buses to/from Hairyburg..

Simply put,we would not have played Purple if the WM game had been played.

Likely that CAA intervened on JMU behalf,as a full member.
JMU is desperate for the AQ even though they’re in the playoffs. As if today,we are either last in or 1st out.
