we just got smoked on that inbound. And it’ll be replayed all over the place.
Come on. That’s basic — you take the fouls there when you have 3 to give and only 15 seconds left.Foul four times and then give up an alley oop so we have no time left. Great coaching
Totally agree. But also basic not to give an alley oop inbound…Come on. That’s basic — you take the fouls there when you have 3 to give and only 15 seconds left.
Mooney played right into Grants hands there.Come on. That’s basic — you take the fouls there when you have 3 to give and only 15 seconds left.
Yep. Gotta gard the rim not the man. Burton got rubbed right out of the way.Mooney played right into Grants hands there.
Yeah that was horrible obviously but can’t blame Mooney for the fact Burton plays even softer defense than Grant. Another big game that our “best player” (Burton) didn’t show up for. Can’t blame Mooney for everything.Totally agree. But also basic not to give an alley oop inbound…
Lol, Mooney's teams are effing soft year after year after year. But can't blame "everyone is guaranteed playing time at the start of the year" Mooney??? Too funny. Bet Hardt chalked this one up as a w. Sman too haha.Yeah that was horrible obviously but can’t blame Mooney for the fact Burton plays even softer defense than Grant. Yes. But we didn’t need to foul the second anyone touched the ball. Grace fouled on the inbounds pass, took hardly any time off. Cayo was lucky not to be called for a flagrant. Terrible executionCome on. That’s basic — you take the fouls there when you have 3 to give and only 15 seconds left.
Exactly, that’s kind of our own play and none of the coaches told them to look out for it. No real surpriseTotally agree. But also basic not to give an alley oop inbound…
Oh I blame Mooney for a lot right now. It’s a joke this team has performed as poorly as they have this year.Lol, Mooney's teams are effing soft year after year after year. We were out coachedThis one is a very, very good example of how this board can get totally ridiculous. Yes, we want Mooney gone. Yes, there are certain things in every game where you would have done something different tactically.
But to say this one was lost because we got "out coached" is absurd. We didn't make a ****ing basket. Burton was terrible. We missed layups repeatedly. And we gave up a basic alley oop on the last play.
The only person you can fire, the person in charge, is MooneyThis one is a very, very good example of how this board can get totally ridiculous. Yes, we want Mooney gone. Yes, there are certain things in every game where you would have done something different tactically.

If he’s soft it’s because Mooney made him soft. Never blame the kids. It’s all on Mooney.Yeah that was horrible obviously but can’t blame Mooney for the fact Burton plays even softer defense than Grant. Agree that Burton didn’t show up, but I think the alley oop is on Cayo. Cayo’s man screened Burton and there wasn’t much he could do to get back in position - I think Cayo should’ve switchedYeah that was horrible obviously but can’t blame Mooney for the fact Burton plays even softer defense than Grant. Some people just have a knack for playing hard, hustling and rising to the occasion. Not everything can be taught. If he’s soft it’s because Mooney made him soft. Never blame the kids. It’s all on Mooney.
My consistent view is that whatever you and VT say on here, the opposite is most likely true.We were out coached
Could be true. My issue is he never fights through the screen, and often let’s his player dribble right by him (with the idea that he’ll use his athletic ability to recover at the end of the play)Agree that Burton didn’t show up, but I think the alley oop is on Cayo. In his defense, he’s carried the team on his shoulders a number of games.Oh I blame Mooney for a lot right now. It’s a joke this team has performed as poorly as they have this year.
But also need to look at Burton and how he’s played in our A10 losses. He’s really not shown up for several games.
Dayton (L): 0-5 FG, 0-1 3pt
VCU (L): 4-9 FG, 0-3 3pt
GMU (L): 6-14 FG, 0-2 3pt
VCU (L): 1-12 FG, 0-5 3pt
Davidson (L): 2-9 FG, 2-4 3pt
SLU (L): 5-13 FG, 2-4 3pt
Joes (L): 3-10 FG, 1-6 3pt
While certain of the games were big losses (e.g. Vcu and St Joes), most were very close and decided by a few points or less. Tyler isn’t bringing it on defense, so our team won’t survive when he plays this inefficient on the offensive end. Hard to entirely blame Mooney when your NBA prospect isn’t making shots in the biggest games.
I agree that he should be much better defensively. Many times he’ll get beat on back cuts because he’s ball watching, or off the dribble because he doesn’t step in front of guysCould be true. Fair point. He carried us against SBU and a few others. It’s why he’s so frustrating to watch in these games — you know he has all the talent and is often the best player on the court but hasn’t performed in many big games this year.In his defense, he’s carried the team on his shoulders a number of games.
True, but can’t you say the same thing about the other starters? It’s a team sport.Fair point. He carried us against SBU and a few others. No, our primary scorer needs to show up to big games, like the one tonight.True, but can’t you say the same thing about the other starters? It’s a team sport.
We’re all frustrated at the end of the season. The team has under-performed expectations. Everyone has opinions and reasons. I’ll just lay it on poor fundamentals. And you know where that takes you.
So it seems you are smans enemy. You want Burton gone, sman wants him to stay.Oh I blame Mooney for a lot right now. It’s a joke this team has performed as poorly as they have this year.

If you coach defense, you don't rely one player. See SDSU and St. Mary's. They win, they play tough defense, they aren't mooney/Charmin soft. No, our primary scorer needs to show up to big games, like the one tonight.
Incorrect.Ok guys. I’m calling it
Richmond 81, Dayton 68
Hell no. Burton is a unique talent and I love watching him play — he’s improved immensely over the last 3 seasons. So it seems you are smans enemy. You want Burton gone, sman wants him to stay.
