"VCU decides not to play in the postseason"

Just saw this mentioned on the other thread, sorry for the double up.

Still that headline gets me...

Best part of statement - and we are humbled. Can't recall any concept of humility of any kind previously associated with Broad Street basketball.

Yes we will see what "rhoades" that leads down next season...............
Thing is I think he is a good coach(I may be bias since he’s 0-2 vs us). Problem is he had to take over a team at the back end of all their success and is tasked with rebuilding it. Fans are gonna eat him alive before he gets the team he wants to compete.

RTD had their obituary for VCUs season. They packaged it as it was their choice not to play. They might have gone into CBI, hard to say how they do things.

I'm sure the CBI would take them. The CBI will take anyone with a winning record who is willing to pay. Honestly, the main reason I think they opted against it was because they know they can't sell out a CBI game, and that would end their beloved sellout streak.

You are charitable - my take is although they are "humbled" it is beneath them to be associated with such a low tier tournament coupled with your take that it would be "egg on their face" if fans didn't flock to the game to watch their wonderful basketball team ......

Do they still have the CBI championship banner from 2010 hanging? Was there in 2011 when I was there for a game.

Yeah, but why did we decide in October?
Was that this year or next you are referring to? If next year, I think the decision was made in March. We kept Mooney. Our admin could honestly give a rip if we make the postseason. Their selling tickets, getting donations, and spinning it all as a rip roaring success.

This year but next year will be much the same I'm afraid.

Be careful - if we had the chance we’d be all over it and hoping to raise the banner

Haven't we played in the CBI at least 3 times in the past? (2008,2009,and 2013)?
Yes, but believe we also turned down the CBI more recently as most teams at our level do. It is a pay to play and embarrassing for an A-10 level program to play in it.

Only time, I could see it as enhancing is if you have a really young team and you want to get them some postseason experience. That is us this year, but when you only have 12 wins, even a pay to play like the CBI won't take you.

Look at the CBI fields from 2015-2018, a below 500 Colorado in 2015 might be the best team in the last 3 years. That tournament has really taken a downturn...
