UR an 8 seed in the latest bracketology

Watch out for bid-stealing conference champs who don't win their tourneys, and make your plans for the CBI in Daytona!

Wow A10 representing big time in the Not Invited Tournament. Is 5 schools from 1 conference playing in the NIT a record? Sad but I hope we don't get an invite to the NIT.

It's not super unusual for power conferences to get five...Big East and Pac 12 have done it in recent years.

For us to make NIT - we need to win 3 more games the rest of the way AND we need 2 A10 teams to make the NCAA tourney.

I think Davidson is close to a lock for tourney, and then I think if someone else wins the A10 tourney - we get 2 teams in. Maybe we get a 3rd to sneak in to first four game - like a VCU if they make A10 finals and lose.

Then - we need a lot of lower conference regular season champs to win their conference tourneys.

The NIT is a good tourney. So we don't decline it. But it is clearly below the expectation for this team. If this team was on the bubble like a VCU and just missed and got a 1 seed in the NIT, that is different than sneaking into the NIT as a 7 or 8 seed.

I’m not joking about it. Was pointing out what a bad thing it was to say given the school history. I’m sorry you had to experience that

Very thorough and detailed reply...please opine as to your disagreement. My thoughts were that the NIT would help the young kids get experience in a tournament setting..cbi would be an embarrassment and having super super srs play in the NIT is also an embarrassment. What's your perspective?
I think of course we'd accept the NIT. and I'd play to win. the super seniors are obviously a huge part of this team, and they should continue to be until they're done. the NIT isn't a scrimmage.

I would tell the seniors - you don't want to be embarrassed by NIT, then make it to MSG for final 4 of NIT. Get games on ESPN and show everyone how good you really are.

Not to mention - a final four NIT run would def get Mooney an extension.

For this team, I disagree..especially based on hype and expectations

I would tell the seniors - you don't want to be embarrassed by the NIT, then win the effing A10 tournament! And geez, we've been on an ESPN channel like 6-8 times already....

Right, it would seem that if the seniors didn't want to be embarrassed they wouldn't have gotten shit canned by St. Joes by 30 at home, lost to a Utah State that traveled cross country to play in an empty gym that we had a short bus trip to, gone to the Bahamas for a vacay and find painfully creative ways to lose both games, getting beat by a pedestrian George Mason team, giving up against your cross town rival in a second half blood bath.

But yeah, showing out for the NIT (which we won't) will show the world how good we are.

Was hoping Wake was a little worse than they are.
Then there may have been some shot at 8 seed UR at 1 seed Wake to renew the rivalry ;)

Wake has been very good this year - wish we could get them back on the schedule each year. That was usually a good game for us more times than not, and playing a close ACC team (cause UVA and Tech won't touch us) is always a good thing I think.

3-15 in the ACC last year to 13-7 in one year - huge turnaround.

I'd like to amend this list to include getting poster dunked on at the buzzer in your last home game as seniors. That statement dunk by Dayton was kind of the perfect statement for this group, play really well at times, never quite good enough, and then in crunch time watching the other team make the big game winning play.

Sorry, ply…I read your post as a flippant response to the jump in a lake comment. My bad, probably a gut response to being reminded of what was an emotional event.

No need to apologize SF, I could and should have worded my intentions on that comment better.

Pretty quick turnaround. Amazing the fruits that can be reaped with a new coach. Sadly a distant concept in Spider Land.
