Go from going unbeaten in conference and a final four favorite only to have that taken from you, then losing to La Salle and Fordham in less than a week. Woof.

Might be just the wake-up call they need to get Dayton rolling. Time will tell if they are a real contender in the A10.

Fordham - they played 0 OOC games, and were blown out in their first 2 league games. Then they upset Dayton. Neubauer was in the group of coaches that likely should have been fired after last season, but with COVID and the uncertainty and probably lack of options and money to hire a new coach, they let him stay. They only won 2 A10 games last year. WHAT IF - they win 5 or 6 games this season? With a team of mainly underclassmen - does that give him another year? Or is he good as gone no matter what happens this year?

I went back and looked at the team coaches from when Beilein coached at UR. You had Beilein (no longer coaching after Cleveland incident), Mike Jones (doing well at Radford), Neubauer (about to be fired at Fordham) and Matt Brown (think he was a head coach years ago at UMKC, but was fired after a few years of losing). Clearly - Beilein was successful and banked a lot of money. But in terms of current coaching - looks like Jones is in the best spot at Radford (5-1 in league so far).

Left out Phil Seymore. Everyone forgets Phil Seymore. Good guy. Beilien's main asst. for a while in his career. He went to Providence as mens asst coach, then was head womens coach at Providence and later head coach at SUNY Fredonia. I believe Mike Jones replaced him at UR.

So your saying his hit rate with producing head coaches far exceeds Belichick's :):)

I think Jones at Radford has done a super job. He lost Carlik Jones as a grad transfer to Louisville, and he is not just a Fore fill in - but probably Louisville's best guard. Really solid recruiter and coach at a school that is really not set up for hoops success. He is on my watchlist.

Not sure what's going on with Dayton. Losing Johnson really hurt them. Chatman has been out the past couple of games, so that's not great either. Amzil hit the ground running and I thought he would really help them, but they've lost to both La Salle and Fordham with him, so.....

Good call on Seymore. I remember that move to the women's side at Providence. Rarely see that happen.
Jones would be on the radar, but I think given his age (high 50's I think) - not sure he would on the top of the list for UR. Plus - I don't think it would be a good fit in terms of the school letting him recruit the players he wants. But I think he has found a good spot at Radford and if they make the tourney this year - his name will be popping up again.

Our former coach who has our court named after him is celebrating this win by his alma mater!
