I believe it is the Dec. 11th version of the show, but I could have the wrong date and don't feel like re-listening now. That is all I needed to confirm my fear and the drum I had been beating about Hardt for some time. He is all in on Mooney and will be extending him so he can wrap up a bountiful 2021 class of recruits. Even after his only experience was two 20 loss seasons, a few early season wins and a NYC trip hanging and observing Moon has him sold. So we have five more years, probably as much as Mooney wants. I have zero confidence in Hardt to hire the next coach, though he did do a good job to bring in his coach from Bucknell for the ladies - I'll give him some props there. But based on his reference to Mooney as a great coach, I am at a low confidence level for his ability in mens hoops.
I actually was angry about this for the last couple years if you did not notice, and I think (I THINK
) I have finally reached a level of complacency and hoping we can catch lightning at the A10 tourney, and also maybe beat VCU once this year. That is my focus. I will be at the URI game cheering the team on, and maybe Fordham too, but I will fall into the Richmond way of thinking and just be happy no players arrested and win some games.
I will now focus on jinxing my 2nd favorite team, the SDSU Aztecs. Now there is an older coach who is very appreciative of an opportunity, a nice paycheck (less than Mooney's) and a coach that will not settle for major holes in his roster and work actively to fix his roster. Very motivated 60 year old coach who has a focus on defense and rebounding, and really means it.
