Trevor Smith - 2023 Signee

Interesting also that Trevor doesn’t even appear to be their primary ball handler.

Anybody heading over to see Trevor and Woodside play for state title at Siegel Center tomorrow?

Was that him who took the first shot on that final possession? Impressive win. PH-Roanoke had just beaten Highland Springs last week, who of course is legit.

Trevor will make his presence known next year. Competition makes everyone better! Buckle up for some welcomed competition at the PG spot next year.

“He’s always going to give you everything he’s got,” said Woodside coach Stefan Welsh, who as a player led the Wolverines to back-to-back titles in 2004 and ‘05. “He plays every game like it’s Game 7 of the NBA Finals.” [...]

Smith, a 6-foot-2 senior guard, averaged 18 points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals. He was named the Class 5 Player of the Year and the Class 5 Region B Player of the Year.[...]

“He’s the hardest worker. He’s never too high and never too low,” he said. “And he always comes to play. You don’t find a lot of kids like him. They don’t come along too often.”

Well, unless there's a surprise or two waiting for us, it's "his" team now. Or at least, it will be by the end of next season.
