Transfer Season is here

it's going to be a big year. a lot of kids got their degrees but have an extra year of eligibility left.
most can stay if the school wants them. Ivy kids can't stay.

Wow. He killed us. Glad he's leaving.
Mason and URI are becoming revolving doors for players. The hope for the A10 in the future is that the top talent doesn’t leave for P6 conferences. The Dance is already top-loaded with these conferences and other conferences having talent leave will make at-large entries a continuing challenge. Having our guys stay with the program this year is truly a great story - and one I hope is a legacy going forward.

URI May be because they have no coach…

Any more news about the 7ft kid from the Rajun Cajuns of Louisana Lafayette since we seemed even before our DC miracle to be on his watch list?

Not sure if funny, but pretty sure that is Patriot League Lafayette…

And a Jersey kid, so Rutgers May be some competition.

Four guys from Princeton are transferring. Feels like we should be able to land at least one, for several obvious reasons.
I think the Ivy league is very strict on the 4 years only rule, so not sure how they are handling the extra covid year, but I would expect each year a healthy number of Ivy players who still want to play looking to transfer.

I feel like we could use a shooter and a big guy. Assume Grace, Burton, Goose, and Crabtree are back and we still have Wilson and DJI (and others) - but think we need a straight shooter and a big guy as I don't see anyone behind Grace at the moment. I would go big guy 1 and shooter 2.

We need to be active in the transfer market for sure. Strike while the iron is hot. For the first time in 11 years, there's a buzz about our program AND we one-upped vcu, too, which helps. If we can win a game or two in the tourney, even better. Fill in with some key pieces and keep this thing going instead of going through a rebuild.

Mooney claimed three other week that he has seen the light on transfers. Let's hope he was being real.

that's a weird 4 year rule. I assume no Ivy underclassmen ever transfers, but I'd bet every good current senior enters the portal as a grad tranfer unless they have a big job lined up.

Doubt we have a chance but efton Reid is a 7 footer for LSU who went to steward locally. I would imagine he might be on the way out with his coach gone. He will have way better options than UR though. Maybe my other team has a chance with him.

UR needs to set up a direct pipeline to the Patriot/Ivy Leagues for transfers from those schools, both for graduate transfers and covid eligibility requirements. Admissions wouldn’t scrutinize and would rubber stamp any of our signings.

You never know, unless you try!! It’s better to have tried and failed than not to have tried at all.

Skinny at Steward was he was a Uva lock before Slick Willy Wade came in…..He def ain’t coming here.

Saw where Basmille from GW entered the transfer portal. Don't know what he is looking for, but he is a player and he is from RVA. Maybe he wants to come home.
Maybe...
But I heard a rumor it was easier to get into Northwestern as a non-athlete than into UR as a athlete...

Bamisile is a talent, but yes my understanding is the same as Zeeter - you get to transfer without sitting out one time, then after that have to sit out a year.

Agree with Trap, could use a knock down shooter, and a big. For the big, I prefer a "4" man, with Grace coming back as starting 5. Still think Walz is a good prospect, but not a guy that will allow us to finish near top of A10. I think Grace at the 5 provides that opportunity. Would rather keep Burton at the wing if at all possible.

But would you be ok getting a 5 and having Grace start at the 4?

I know sman floated that scenario as well. At this point, I am OK with Grace if he wants to be point gawd and head coach, and athletic director.

My preference is for him at the 5 spot, and a little more athleticism/ rebounding presence next to him.

Agreed - but it sticks with the Ivy theme/motto - that you really are here for an education, not athletics. So no sitting out a year just to make yourself better on the court. Fine by me - some Ivy players turn into good players by their senior year and if we can borrow one for year - so be it.

that's why I like Burton at the 4. and Burton at the 4 opens the door for more time to Crabtree and Dji. and maybe Marcus and or Dread.
if we add a good 5 like Quinn, I think Grace could play in both spots like this year.
if we add a good 4 Grace might be strictly a 5.
either way, we need to add a good big.
