Time of the Season

Where the rubber meets the road. TWO ENORMOUS showdowns with a no. 7 Dayton team that looks as good and talented as any in the country, and a good, but not great VCU lamb team away. I think we are primed to win both and be in the top 25 again for the first time in a very long time. I am concerned about Francis being out. I was not as much on the hype machine as some earlier in the year. After watching the team in person at URI, I jumped on board the Francis hype machine. Super quick, very good, most importantly has that Gonzo "DOG" mentality. Who will be that "DOG" when the going gets tough in these next two games. Can Gilly do more? Is Burton ready? Cayo is going to need to step up for sure.

I am thinking positive, I think we beat Dayton at the buzzer - 97, Gkiller, Sman, 4700, EL and Lurker are all jumping around together hugging on the court unbeknownst to each other's identities.

We go to VCU tuesday and have a semi comfortable 8 point win, with hornboy escorted out of the stadium.

The next 2 games, maybe even 3 will tell us a lot about this team and where they are going. If we go 2-0 and beat Dayton and VCU, we will be riding high - but still need to come back to earth and take care of business with GW at home. Even if we go 1-1 - that would be good, and need to again not forgot about GW at home.
Only thing we can't afford is 0-2. Then the GW game, as much as I would like to see UR bounce back with a huge win - is less meaningful. It also begins to paint the storyline of we can't beat the good teams in the league. I expect we lose to Dayton - we just don't matchup well and without Francis, I am not sure we have enough firepower unless Burton or Wojcik catch fire. VCU - we match up better and will rely on Gilyard to handle the pressure, but I have confidence he can do it.

Burton will have the best game of his young career. Love his attitude. He bows to the upperclassmen, but he's got some dog in him. He's coming. We keep it close and win with foul shooting in the end. OMG.
