Overall I see us a little better on offense and special teams, but a little worse on defense. Another advance a couple rounds in the playoffs season.

Offense:
QB Lauletta, Clise
RB Collins, Goodall, Thompson
TE Hudson, Holloway, Jacob
WR Wilkins, Bevels, Abell, Tibbs, Brissett
OL Light, Young, Yarbough, Kliebert, Markham, Cole, Dixon

depth on the offensive line looks like biggest question to me

Defense:
DL Waller, Clyde, Muse, Booker, Wiggins, Ingle
LB Caughell, Rubin, Day, Moore, Norris, Padalino, Iamunno
CB Keels, Mainsah, Jordan, Williams, Roberson
S Coniker, Johnson, Jones

Lots of losses in the front 7

Special Teams:
K Trau, Helkowski
Returner Brissett, Wilkins
Holder ?
Snaper Latham

Acouple of younger o lineman and on D big kid who got injured in preseason who slated to play this year iamunno will be productive

I dont see our defense being worse. 42 to Stony Brook, 31 to Colgate, 34 to W&M, 47 to JMU, 38 to EWU. Nice shutout of Nova, 20 to Albany in regulation, Delaware to 17 and UVa to 20 but i can't see us not improving.

Sorry, not counting Elon/NSU. Wasn't bad defense but I hope Russ can do better than that.

A few questions

(1) Is it a certainty that KJ will redshirt next year? If not, I imagine he will serve as the backup and quarterback in waiting based on his postseason performance?

(2) Won't Jordan and Coniker be back in the secondary? I thought both played as Juniors this year.

(1) Not a certainty. Just an option. If he's QB2 next year he'll only be the QB-in-waiting for 2018. He could redshirt and be the man in '18 and '19 (although other QBs will compete for the job).

(2) They both have another year, yes.

1) I wouldn't waste a year of him on backup if I were coach.
2) Coniker was already listed at safety. I missed Jordan.

The transition from a 3-4 to a 4-3 is going to make for some interested moves up front. I see Chad Wiggins as a guy that will thrive in the new system.

I can't stand the 3-4 in college. Pressure on most FCS QB's makes all the difference. Any decent FCS QB can pick you apart if he has all day, which is basically what the 3-4 provides.

Easier said than done most schools can't find pass rushers and go to 3-4 with hybrid lb rushing. We had that scheme but we fell into coverage more times than not. There were injuries to the projected pass rushers this year which dictated the schemes

Oh, I agree with you. Certainly depends on what kind of athletes you have, and there are many more fast 220lb guys than 280lb guys. Rocco has always had a bend but not break defense, counting on stopping a team in the red zone. However, I have just always noticed that in FCS the skilled offensive players are usually better than their defensive counterparts. So pressure on the QB that forces him make quick decisions is the equalizer. I am probably wrong, but that's the way it looks to me.

I'm with you if you have that kid that knows how to come off the corner and actually get the QB and not get tangled up you gotta send him

You're not wrong.

We were able to get pressure with 3, but the better QBs we faced (Schor, Gubrud) were able to escape, reset and hit receivers who had been running around for 5+ seconds.

Rush 4+ and that same escape move often spins you directly into another pass rusher.

Huesman's teams at UR were also better tacklers.

I too am excited to see what K. Will can on the Dline. He's from the DC area and that region has produced a ton of super spider football players.

Agree regarding the 3-4, we just sat in coverage a lot. Chaz South 3-4 gave NDSU fits with different pressures. I think the 4-3 will help us a lot. Eases pressure on the outside backers and puts a little more on the corners (compared to what we ran). I think Mainsah and Keels and Jordan will make a lot of plays.

I really think we have the talent and I think there will be a surprise or two from the young guys
Talent we have. And I can't imagine we will have 19 injuries next year. Things Ussualy even themselves the next year. ..... hopefully

I don't think the level of QB play in our conference is very good and I also think that it's gotten worse over the years. In my opinion there's only two good QB's in the CAA and that's Lauletta and schor (and I don't think schor is that good). The main reason schor ripped us up was because we had ZERO pressure on him the whole game. I remember Huesman's defense as being really aggressive and constantly getting after the QB. That will help so much against a guy like schor and will make us even more dominate against the not so good QB's in our league.
