Not so fast on this one. Looks like coach asked prof is there any way Barnwell can improve his grade. This is a widely accepter "t" practice on campus which allows student to extra work at profs digression. Another example of the press getting the headline ahead of the story. Meanwhile Barnwell not exactly a great student..

AD Hermann needs to go too. The whole AD needs to get cleaned out, bleached, and re started from scratch.

it seems that once you are in a hole, very difficult to extricate yourself. just seems they cannot get out of their own way and too bad because they were fortunate to land in the big 10,11,12 and have a lot of upside if they can get some leadership. maybe you are right MO, just need to start over and have a committee, without prejudice, selecting those leaders.

They just fired one of the best AD's (got them into BIG) they ever had. Not a fan of Hermann either, but we have to get away from the media driven firing craze. As for the 5 thugs, they don't deserve to be in college.

wilk, are you alluding to the guy who let the basketball coach off with a slap on the wrist after viewing those tapes? if so, are you nuts? that guy had to go, even if he raised a half a billion dollars on his own or something. you cannot have guys like that running the shop so hope you are thinking about another guy, am sure you are.

When I saw the title about State College of New Jersey I thought this thread would be about Duke.

Flood gets 3 games suspension and $50,000 fine.Another player, star receiver Leonte Carroo was suspended indefinitely this past weekend(9/12)after he was charged with body slamming a woman he was once romantically involved with following the Scarlet Knights’ loss to Washington State on Saturday.

Bye,bye Flood after season.Delaney of Big 10 can't be happy either.

personally, feel that a coach is an advocate for his players/family and that not being permitted to contact profs, fellow employees, on their behalf is shortsighted. realize that it could get out of hand at some institutions but that is when the prof should contact the provost. just don't get that policy but if it is one then am all for enforcing it.

Any interchange between the professor and the athletic department with regard to the academic standing of the student athlete, at most, should be limited the athletic academic advisor and the faculty member, and then limited to obtaining information or recommendations. Otherwise, the temptation to try to influence special consideration for the athlete and/or compromise of the academic process is too great. I tutored athletes at UR for two years and never had to deal with a coach or heard of any coach trying to contact a professor directly. It was justifiably taboo at UR.

agree i, just assumed that rutgers is not allowing any contact not just the specific coach but could be wrong. the whole point of contact between the athletic dept and the prof is to influence just like when a non student/athlete goes to his or her prof to talk. hope their protocol allows for contact, a player could have a concussion, or other prob that the prof needs to take into consideration and again, the coach is their advocate and should have some way to stay connected.

if rutgers does things like the last time they hired the departing AD, they they have learned nothing and deserve what they get going forward.
