As favorable as it could be for us, IMO. Circle the wagons, make a plan at quarterback and we can get rolling again. Time to stop feeling bad for ourselves. Nobody else is.

Agree 100% Mo.

Come up with the plan and go out and execute.

This could be the beginning of a storybook run.

Great spot, if we had our QB. Ironically, if we did have our QB, we might be in a worse spot bracket-wise. Hope we take advantage of the situation regardless.

It's a new season. If Kevin Johnson is our best option (can do on the ground and in the air) I say let him start. KJ could then serve as the backup to Lauletta next year.

We know Rocco - every QB scenario will be carefully considered, pondered, dissected, then he will put the person out there that gives us the best chance to be successful this season and in the future.

Break out the single wing. Practice quick kicks on third down.

well...it is beginning to get colder and running the ball becomes more important come playoff time. Correct me if I am wrong but most if not all our oline is still in tact? Even if not, they've played pretty damn well under the Rocco era. I expect them to put the O on their back and get us past this week...

Give the ball to Pavik and Caughill.Too much Thompson will risk him getting hurt.Put in tight ends to block. Our WR's get to sit on bench during playoffs or be used on jet sweeps.

I could understand playing a walk-on if we had two meaningless regular season games left. But you play all year to make the playoffs and the seniors/fans deserve our best lineup.
How many practice snaps have the freshman QBs who thought they were being redshirted taken?

Kevin Johnson works with scout team so even though that isn't our offense he is throwing consistently week to week

put in one of the high school qbs we have on the roster and go wildcat with extra OL and TEs. let's roll

I would rather have Kyle Lauletta and play ANYBODY. Even if we get by A&T with no (experienced) quarterback, then what???

Ah yes....The Single Wing!
Until the 1970s the late Vince Bradford had his Hilltoppers run out of this formation at E.C. Glass High School at Lynchburg. Under Bradford, ECG was one of the football powers in our Beloved Commonwealth.

Then we get ready to play the next week. You guys amaze me. I think Kyle is the greatest but we have some other great players as well. When we win I sure hope we can keep the positive MoJo going. You would think we are at a wake. Hello......Can you hear me now? We are in the playoffs and we are "UR"

Since you are a Hilltoppers fan. I was playing Center for Annandale High School when we came down and beat up the heavily favored Hiltoppers in City Stadium in Lynchburg, November of 1985. Rick Volley (Ohio State) and Mickey Fitzgerald (VT) were their studs. It was quite a game. 13-12.

We've got a good coach. we knew this when Rocco turned Latrell's disaster into an 8-3 team in one year

I know he's good. Like I said, now we find out how good.
His rep since Liberty - fair or not - is that his teams rarely exceed the expectations based on their talent level. At LU, they were often in control of their own destiny and failed to finish. That obviously has not been the case at UR, since he had never lost to W&M until Saturday.

Last year, we looked great in our last regular season game and for two rounds of playoffs.
2014, meh - Coastal was a very beatable matchup and we looked unprepared for that game. Maybe the bye made that much difference.

Hmm - I just noticed that for all three years of the playoffs in the Rocco era, we've been in the 7 seed pod of the bracket.

I am not only a fan. I graduated from E.C.Glass Class of 1972.

Under Bo Henson Glass won the 1988 AAA State Championship beating Huguenot H.S. of Richmond at UR Stadium 22-7.
The visitors side of the stadium was overflowing with folks from The Hill City rooting for Glass. The home side was empty except between the 40 yard lines.

Reminds me of what the stands looked like at the old stadium when UR played JMU or W&M. Fans of the home team were vastly outnumbered by fans of the visiting team.

Since that state championship year, Glass football has fallen on hard times. This year was the first winning season for Glass in over a decade.

Honestly, this is just stupid. We have lost 13 players to season ending injury this season.

I don't give a flip what his record was at Liberty. He is 41-21 here with 2 CAA Titles, a 5-1 record over W&M, a win over UVA, a semifinal appearance.

He could lose by 40 to NCA&T this Saturday and i could argue that he's the best coach in program history.

Get a clue. Or better yet, ask about Broadus again.

Sorry FRS - The game was 1975 not 1985 - Yes and Annandale has suffered the same fate over the years as the demographics have changed and the power schools seem to be in the far western suburbs.

Geez, Mo. You act as if I p***ed in your Cheerios. We're on the same side. We agree more often than not, and I said he's a good coach. If he takes this team on a run in their current condition I'd wager he'll consider it his best coaching job yet - but he won't even think about that until it's over.

He's certainly built a program - at a small school that plays in front of small crowds - that can contend for a power conference title year in and year out. That's mighty impressive. The program's in as good of a position now as it was when Clawson left.

Best in history? I don't know. I'm sure the guy I played for isn't. :)

Re: Broadus, there are several posters on this board that are obviously unclear about the current situation, and the whole thing is just ridiculous. But when others, like yourself, seem to be in the know and drop hints like "he didn't need a plan B until last Friday at 5" and say no more, it just stirs the pot. It reeks of "Hey, look at me, I'm 'connected' and I want you to know it, but I'll just leave y'all to speculate."

Lake Braddock and Madison are still hanging tough, but the power does seem to be shifting westward.

Fair enough. I'm sorry if i misinterpreted or overreacted there.

Rocco has taken his team to the playoffs 3 years in a row, which, as far as i'm aware, is unprecedented at UR.

Re: Broadus, he's a good kid but the thing is out of Rocco's hands. We've got a pretty ****ed up administration at UR. My having some knowledge on the subject isn't a 'look at me' thing it's a 'i'm really disturbed by the whole thing' thing and i don't think it needs to be hashed out on a public message board out of respect to the kid and his family. That's it. There's a swamp that needs to get drained at UR and it ain't the football office.

That's alright. I thought that game was in the mid 70's. I was there.

I agree - I've really wanted to "take it private" but I honestly don't know how on these forums.

You're right, the only other time we've made the playoffs three straight years was '07-'09, and that was with two different coaches.
Alright - peace, bro. I'll shake your hand if I ever meet you IRL.
We've been really spoiled as Spider fans for a while. 1 losing season in the past 12. 7 playoff appearances over that span, and we've advanced in every single one.

Seem like a lifetime since going 6-5 was considered a banner year. Funny how a thing like winning humbles the fan base......kidding guys.

URo-Line-- Please tell everyone how you were the starter for the West Team in the Virginia All Star Game in 1976. That team had Rick Volley, Micky Fitzgerald and Buddy Curry (UNC All American, Atlanta Falcons- All Pro) playing for them. I started at guard for the East team and remember successfully blocking Buddy Curry during the whole game and knocking Mickey Fitzgerald on his rear. The West had a great team of All Stars, but the East beat them 28 to 0. The East won behind the great quarterbacking of Greg Gregory.(UR)

Ha Ha
Yes CS, you did knock Mickey Fitzgerald on his butt and better yet we beat him again at VT when the Spiders won 2 out of the 3 times we played them. Of course you were tearing things up from the defense side of the ball as a Spider....
