I have enjoyed watching every game these seniors have played starting back with Nick's and Grant's freshman year. I knew when they stepped on the court for the 1st time they were special and going to do big things during their U of R careers. The next year Jacob and Nathan arrived and finally Blake, completing potentially the only class U of R will ever have with 5 1000 point scorers.

Despite all of their accomplishments, they are the most unlucky class ever to play for the school. Having to play through a global pandemic with a cancelled NCAA tournament their junior year, 3 Covid pauses their senior year and multiple injuries. It is very unfortunate that their accomplishments weren't recognized by a sellout crowd on senior night who would have brought the house down with applause. If everyone stayed healthy they had the potential to be a top 20 team. As I watch their last regular season game of the season, with 3 redshirt starters sitting on the bench with injuries, it demonstrated their 100% commitment to the Spider Basketball team. All 3 decided to return and all 3 gave everything they had. This team will be remembered for a long time.

I hope some of the members will return next year and get to experience a real senior night. For those that move on, I wish them the best and will follow the careers of those that go pro.

UR80sfan we needed a classy remembrance as yours. These guys, to come from two loosing seasons to the run of last February to the disaster of this season has to be a huge disappointment. We went from a team with depth which we have not had for several years, to little to no depth due to injury. Nick Sherrod has experienced devastation of another torn ACL and yet showed such class in dealing with it and supporting his team. Next subs like Connor Crabtree and Gus had injuries that sidelined them from key parts of the season and finally Grant's broken finger and Blakes injury. It was a snowball affect that most likely ended their season. Now the players are disappointed enough and deserve better. We as fans are disappointed also, but we do not need to blame them for this season of faded hope.

I place no blame for any of this on any of our players. What they have had to play through this year with COVID and the quarantines and protocols just to set foot on the court is to be commended. I'm quite sure we don't even know the half of it in terms of what types of sacrifices they have had to made to lace them up this year. ''

As disappointed as we are all are as fans with this season, I'm sure does not hold a candle to probably how many of them feel right now.

I wanted to echo these sentiments and say we will miss you, both on and off the court. I hope you will think seriously about coming back.

But if you decide it's time to move on into the real world, best of luck and please come back and visit when we're all back to attending in person so the fans can honor you in the way you deserve.
