Good idea and I will look forward to each night. While we all are dissapointed in how things have gone, I'm glad there will leave their collegiate bball years as Richmond Spiders.

I’m still pissed, for the players in particular, that they will likely go their whole careers without a single NCAA appearance. And there will be no consequences for the coaching staff other than being granted an extension during that time.

you have the all time NCAA record holder for most steals.

a 5 time all-A10 player that is top 5 in just about every school category.

plus two other thousand point scorers. It’s mind boggling.

Mediocrity sells tickets at the University of Richmond. Why rock the boat?

This is a terrific idea to support players that have been loyal to the program. I can hardy wait to attend and show my support.

I find it insulting that people say things like "I feel sorry for the players" or " I am mad the players didn't". First of all, the players seem to be very happy with their Richmond experience, which is why we have one of the lowest transfer rates in the country and second, many will have professional careers after they graduate, which is far and away the most important thing for them

How would you like it if the players posted on our board that they were sorry for the mediocre jobs or lives of many people that post? Hopefully it is not true and also would not be a nice thing to say.

Well, if we have a shitty wife at home running the show, they might be justified.

P.S. In case she is reading this, I DO NOT HAVE A SHITTY WIFE AT HOME.

What's wrong with feeling sorry for the players? It shows the long term fans care about the players & the fact that top down leadership has not given the direction for the team accomplishment the players deserve. Whoever posted that original idea is just stating the obvious.

I don't feel sorry for the players, everything is wonderful here. What more could they have asked for in their 6 years on campus?

You really think these guys will be completely thrilled to graduate after five or six years and never make the NCAAs? Of course it's possible for them to have enjoyed their time at UR like we all did, but they all came to play basketball.

And considering this is a basketball message point, it seems that the discussion of our basketball successes or failures would be appropriate here. You're welcome to start a Spider Fan Job Evaluation message board and let people say whatever they want about us individually as employees. Seems like a good idea actually. Let's go.

I would get great reviews. All “excellent”.

can they assure us there are no ads, tracking, or other negative aspects of downloading the app

And now you can use your phone to participate in a light show during the starting lineup announcement.

Sounds like Hardt, while good intentioned, got swindled by some company promising to deliver unrealistic ideas. Has he seen this fan base? I don’t know if Jitterbug phones are capable of downloading this app.

I mean kind of cool but have they seen are fan base right now. This might work really well at a place like VCU or Dayton, not sure it is going to have the impact they hope here.

Most of the fan base at Richmond dont have phones like that. We are behind the times. We still use dial up.

All of those VCU "sellouts" were never sellouts. I went to many games there (besides our games @ the Stu) and there were empty seats galore. I hate when teams glorify sellout streaks. Has nothing to do with attendance, but rather tickets purchased.

How did the flashy phone thingy work out?
I would say it was a marginal success as far as participation was concerned. I would guess about 70% of the people in the RC participated. Of course, the RC crowd was probably at about 75% capacity. All the marketing hype was not able to pack the building. But props to the Students who did pack their section on a Friday night. Granted beer sales in the RC for those over 21 helped that compared to earlier seasons.

In terms of the “wow” effect, I would rate it as Meh. Basically turning on the flashlight on your phone and waving it around is the same. But we all know a no cost option is not as good as one you have to pay for.

Another proud UR investment!

(will be interesting to see if others in attendance agree)

Their administration bought up a bunch of tickets to keep that "streak" alive.

70%? You may have been on the opposite side of the stadium as me. 30% is probably generous and is actually perfectly ok to have a worthwhile effect.

I applaud the effort.
