with at least two post season Tournaments dead ahead for the Spiders, hopefully the best times lay directly ahead...between today and Friday's A-10 opener I'm going to highlight the players who have made this fun and emotional season possible...enjoy the amateur highlights!...get your mojo ready!
The Reserves
For year's many Spiders fans have cringed, or worse, whenever the coaching staff had to go to the bench for starter's rest, foul trouble or injury. That is no longer the case.
Gustavson, Grace, Wojcik, Kouressi and Burton give Richmond quality depth the likes of which we have not seen in years. There's little question in my mind that it's this depth which has given Coach Mooney the ability to manage starters minutes much more aggressively.
It sure looks to me like Grant Golden, Nick Sherod and Nathan Cayo are fresher and more effective at the end of games. This group of reserves also allowed us to play through Golden's early season injury and Blake Francis's fractured sternum.
I expect their contributions to continue into the post season. Somewhere along the line one, or more, will make a big play.
Congrats to all for giving the Spiders a big lift.
