Nick Sherod is one of the best stories of our turnaround season...after missing most of last season with the knee injury it was legitimate to wonder what level of game he would bring back this season...
all it took was 37 minutes of the tough OT win over St. Francis in November for Spiders fans to see that Nick was back in a big way...27 points...6-12 3FGA...8 rebounds...
as the season progressed it was obvious to most UR fans that Sherod was better than before...he was always a dangerous and effective outside shooter, but this season he was also a post up inside threat and a solid rebounder...
the video clips from his season highlight both of his signature skills...
when Nick was on his game the Spiders offense was often at its absolute best...
his numbers clearly show his value to the team 12.7 PPG...45.4% FG...43.8% 3FG...5.4 RBPG...and 80.5% FTP...
some of his best games were against our toughest opponents: Rhode island (13 pts.) St. Louis (17 pts.) Davidson (18 & 19 pts.) Dayton (21 pts.) and VCU (23 pts.)...
during our crucial final four A-10 victories Sherod was clutch averaging 15.7 pts. and 6.3 rebounds...
no doubt after a grueling year of recovery and rehab this post season opportunity will be extra special for Nick...Spiders fans won't be surprised if he has saved his best for this most important time of the season...
good luck Nick!
