The future is bright. We have one of our best teams in history. This team is tough and scrappy. It has already achieved so much. With hard work and character, this team will overcome. We should be proud of this team. Its best days are ahead.

Ra Ra Ra .... lol. Always the super positive, everything's great poster. Cant we ever just analyze a blowout loss and talk constructive criticism or is everything always great even after a blowout lose?

Ra Ra Ra .... lol. Always the super negative, everything's awful poster. Cant we ever just appreciate a 4-1 start to the season after a loss and discuss what we did well instead of pretending this is one of our old 12 win teams or is everything always awful even after a loss to a top 10 team in 24 hours?

Ah, constructive analysis just for the sake of construction, leads one into analysis. In this case, analysis may be what is called for. If analysis helps you, character development will take time. The future is bright, good things are ahead. Take one step at a time. Keep at it. Hard work leads to good results.

Cmon man, Mooney has been hiding in the corner for 8 years. I know you don't like critiquing college athletes, and I tend to agree, but Mooney has been soft as hell for awhile now, pulling in his 1.3. We have a fan base that enables him and Hardt.

a team that is about to graduate nearly 20 seasons worth of UR experience. I've been trying to tell you guys this is the season we have to make REAL noise and build momentum off of it. If we don't make the NCAA tournament and win at least 2, preferably 3 games it will have all been for naught and we will be right back treading water where we have been the past ten years.

Did you write this in 2018? We've been great for about our last 35-40 games. He scrapped his entire defensive system. Recruiting appears to be far better. We win games on the road, and have won something like 17 of 19 at home. What's the problem at this particular point in time?

Three NCAA wins would have us in the Elite Eight (nless you are counting a play-in game). I think we saw yesterday that this team simply isn't that good. Two wins would be a tremendous achievement and the 2nd win there would have to an upset because there is little chance we end up with a Top 4 seed. Further, assuming we get a seed 6 or 7 seed (equivalent to being ranked somewhere between 21 and 28), our 2nd game would be against a 2 or a 3 seed and there is a good chance we get an 8 or 9 seed even with a great season and then we have a toss up in round one and a one seed in round two. One win means we are somewhere between the 16th and 32nd best team which sounds about right in terms of how good we are.

It snowballed on us badly yesterday but fortunately how good we are is tbd. We are still 5 games in Philly. But I'm with 8legs this year isn't just about getting into NCAA. That was last year and it was taken away. Yes the tourney can be matchup driven especially after round 1, but this should be our best team ever, being solidly in top25, winning A10, getting a good seed is all part of it. That can minimize what can happen in a 1 & done setting in a tough matchup. We need to maximize the other opportunities first.

⬆⬆⬆this guy gets it!! ⬆⬆⬆

if we dont have these expectations for one of our best teams ever then when the hell should we have them!?

Also this couldn't have gone into the other half dozen or so 'Future is Bright' threads? They are certainly more easily found than a Mooney timeout to stem another team's run.

& I think Gallipoli's schtick could be more clever. How about...

U GOTTA WEAR SHADES

Put that on a Spiders T-shirt and I'll order a hundred.

Don't think we will. All time they lead us 51 to 34 and have won 9 of the last 12. We did win last time we played them but since they have basically "owned" us ......we won't take them for granted....................

Agreed. I’ll never take VCU for granted. I’m nervous every single time we play them.

Completely confused, so why not the future is now bright? The future is now brighter than ever. Greatness is in this team. The great question- was this head scratcher because of lice or is it something else?

The flame from that future candle is shimmering in the wind.

Get ready for Zone World. Richmond is not a good 3 point shooting team, period. No one can get hot (oh how I miss Sherod). And now they can't make free throws, except for Crab-man. Up by 9 in the second half then clank, clank, clank. If I was an opposing coach, it would definitely be zone defense

The darker the present, the brighter the future looks.

Yes, but is that brightness from a glorious season and Dancing or headlights of a speeding oncoming locomotive? Don't know yet. Concerns, yes. Gotta believe just as the team needs to now.

A10 season is before us. Carpe Diem Spiders!

You gotta admit - the lights were brighter in the Robins Center than they were at the arena in Indianapolis where we played Loyola-Chicago....................so.......do we play better the "darker" it is?

Ive been thinking this for years and have said any coach who doesnt play zone against us should be fired.

By the dance do you mean the CBI?
Not giving up yet. The Spiders did the same thing last season with the last non-conference game and were able to get to the bubble at least. The best news is there is no clear favorite this year, so they have a better chance in theory. However, the Spiders are running out of chances.

This reminds me of the Radford game. Spiders never give up, unless all is lost.

We beat Wisconsin which was the only reason we were in the discussion. No win OOC even close to that.
