Why do teams stay in the shot gun when there is one yard to the get in the end zone. Tech had first and goal from the 1 foot line and still lines up in the shotgun, (of course fumbling the ball and turning it over to the Cowboys). The Spiders do the same thing.....I don't get it.

They do this because they have few if any plays from under center in their playbook.

how difficult is it to have a goal line package with qb under center, particularly now that backs and others can push the qb into the end zone legally. why make a one yard run a 7 yard run?

Agree.

Maybe too much overthinking by coaches these days. Keep it simple seems obvious & go under center.
