How bad is the Roach’s knee? He is still our best shooter in a wheelchair or on crutches.

No Roche and no Crabtree - although I don't think Crabtree matters, but I thought when Roche goes down - he would be the guy to fill in with some minutes. With no Roche or Crabtree - maybe DJI gets some time. He got 0 minutes vs. UMASS - does anyone know if anything is wrong with him?

Well, his dad said he was cleared health wise, so obviously it was a coaches decision. Hope Roche is OK.

Well if that's the case - then the writing is on the wall. Bailey is not getting anytime this year, UNLESS injury comes into play - which in this case - it just might have.

What's wrong with Dji? We have a coach that doesn't have any in-game courage:
  • can't summon the courage to get 4-5 minutes of rest during the game for Tyler Burton
  • can't summon the courage to move away from the Grace/Quinn starting lineup
  • can't identify time for Aiden Noyes, who has done nothing but perform when on the floor this year
  • can't summon the courage to play Marcus Randolph at times when it is obvious that his energy is needed
  • still leans on the rally-killing sub-5 minute timeout in the second half after we score a basket.
But most importantly and pertinently:
  • can't find the courage to let young players play through mistakes, with a very small minority of exceptions

UMASS game management was incredibly frustrating to watch.

All of this. I've said this before Mooney is like Rainman, he is addicted to his routine, which is horrible when the routine you have is absolutely getting clobbered out there, which it is right now.

Would love to see Noyes get some minutes, anytime he gets garbage minutes, that dude is making plays and getting us a bucket. What possible else does he have to show, just to get a meaningful look? If he fails during that meaningful look, so be it, but give him the chance to show it.

Agree - even with a healthy Roche - our chances are slim of winning. GIve him the extra rest, and also gives some minutes to other guys (DJI, Randolph, maybe Walz). Would not hurt to get them minutes in case the injury is lingering or we run into more injuries down the road.

If the doctors say he can't hurt it anymore if he plays, and he can move enough to maybe get a few shots off, give him a few minutes to see how he looks. A couple made 3s could be the difference today. But, if playing could affect his knee down the road, and mean it will take longer to get him to 100%, then don't play him.

If it is close rest him, there us no need to risk more damage. Odds are strong against us in this one, whether he plays or not.
I don’t know…I think if he was healthy we’d be like 20-2 right now on the season and ordering another banner to hang at the contract extension ceremony 😂

I will ask, if he was 150 of 250 from 3 for the season so far, what would our record be?

Rest the Roach.
Slow down on Roche as well - he is still only shooting 29% from 3 in A10 games, and we have played 8 of them. Overall, including OOC he is shooting well - but as I have mentioned before - he has hit a mini-slump of sorts. But I think all shooters hit this, and I much rather he have it now, and maybe catch fire in A10 tourney.

With Tyler he's beating a dead horse. He's 20th in minutes PG nationally and not surprisingly 1st during A10 play at 38.3 PG. He's giving his all and needs more than 1 minute breathers. Some games has look of a worn out player near game's end.

Not major but rather see Bigelow over Grace but if the two bigs start one or both need to attempt, attempt going inside with the height ad.

Goose had his tourney time last year. So did Grace but see necessity of bringing Matty back. Didn't see it with Goose with the likes of Roche, Randolph and Bailey waiting in the wings. Don't believe 32 minutes PG in A10 play is warranted for a defensive specialist. Nothing personal but didn't see him as a missing piece to get another bid along with not believing they would make it anyway.

And yes, mine boggling of no subs last 8+ minutes. Bigs was left on the bench lol. And more so where was Mooney’s patented O/D subbing every possession? Goose in their last 11+ minutes.

Unfortunately, we all know have to live with Mooney’s brain freezes, especially during end of games.

I hope Goose scores 10+ points today and shuts his man down and stops my posts but just pointing out info.

At 79.4% minutes played he ranks 24th in A10 play. Goose is at 4.4 PPG along with great D. Haven't looked but guess 23 players above him majority at 10+PPG and nobody lower than 5.

Do coaches recruit/offer a defensive player over an equally efficient offensive player? Maybe wrong but turning a average defensive player into a good one much easier/successful than average offensive player into a good one.

Once again just stating my opinion with thinking more of Randolph, Dji, whoever can't hurt the team more than Goose staying in helps the team in the long run. We need at this point to look to the future while Mooney might be thinking 55/45.

Goose scored 2 points, 1 rebound and 2 turnovers, and nobody on Dayton was shutdown.

So, I guess it IS okay to criticize players on here. Even use stats if you want. I have been told time and time again we shouldn't really do that. But, I get it. Only I am not allowed to say the slightest negative thing about anyone. Everyone else can say what they want.
Goose gets plenty of playing time to show what he can or cannot do. Not everyone is afforded that opportunity but you knew that. Keep crying and being a drama queen and making everything about you though 😭

I suggest you stop using stats and go with the eye test of Goose being the A-10 DPOY and best athlete on the floor argument. You will feel better than about playing all of the minutes he plays.

Narrator: A couple of made threes by Roche would not have been the difference today.

One of the best and funniest posts in quite a while. To make a difference it could be changed to : Nine or Ten threes by Roche may have made a difference today.

I don't get what you saying 97? You think I should give Goose his due as being the best defender in the A10 which proves his worth playing 32 minutes PG?

97 didn't add the /s at the end of his post to indicate sarcasm. Because everyone knows the best sarcasm is the kind that you need to point out to others.
Lol at my age getting slower on the uptake …. On occasion it never arrives. I thought 97 was in accord with me and went saw a few posts that showed it last night. Thanks!

Lol, I got hammered on a prior thread for suggesting that maybe Goose's defensive prowess might be a tad exaggerated. Been saying since preseason that Goose's skill set was great for last year team, sub optimal for this year's team. So, yeah, sarcasm.

Think opposite, he doesn't get enough credit. That RTD article u referenced b4 was about his prep work for regularly getting toughest assignments. U don't get those unless u r best defender and 1 of the most athletic. if u recall u made up the "narrative"....which has quickly become the most overused word out there btw. Goose gets a pretty good amount of criticism on here so it feels like a lock down get the tough assignment night, just like others this year & many more in past. That said u need balance & I've called for a few less mins that could go elsewhere. But not too many....I always think u need athleticism & your best defender & glue guy playing a lot regardless. Goose was not going to be more than a 4th-5th option scoring. I thought he could raise his PPG ~3 a game, but the ceiling was never high. 22 games in & we've been looking for a secondary consistent scorer all year, nobody has really stepped up. Alternative options haven't developed either when opportunity has come. hopefully it does here over the last 10+.

what does Gisele say. he can't throw it and catch it!! Borrowed from spider23, I love it when he uses.
