Richmond football faces highest expectations in years

We need to get some guys on the Front 7 of our defense back at practice or our expectations are going to lower pretty quickly.

Don't personally like the term high expectations.Unlike the delusional basketball board where everyone has UR going to final 4 because of the type of socks we wear,I would rather not create football headlines which
create the illusion we are either unbeatable or we can score from a multitude of options. Our depth can turn tenuous with key injuries .Hopefully,we don't read our similar headlines. We can be beaten by anyone anytime even Norfolk State if we underprepare or are cocky or if we are hurt.My expectations are week to week. The coach and his entire staff are terrific. The players are real athletes that work hard and smart. It's about every play on both sides of the ball. It's about making PAT's.It's about making FG's.It's about converting 3rd downs,it's about stopping 3rd downs,it's about winning the turnover battle. It's about kicking 40 yds on every punt with plenty of hangtime and no return,it's about kicking off deep with no returns. It's about controlling the game. It's about getting all the little things right.

Our guys are writing their own headlines. That's okay....if you can back it up. Getting close to walking time.

"There’s definitely a feeling to the whole camp that we’re going to be really good this year,” Lauletta said. “It’s scary how good we can be."

You guys need to enjoy the ride and not worry so much about what could happen. We are loaded and getting great exposure. The itsy bitsy spider or giant killer mentality does not fit this program. The team and coaching staff put themselves in this position by the performances last year and the returning players this year. We may stumble along the way but the ride will be fun. I love the motto on the weight room wall in the Chris Stewart piece: NAtionall CHAMPIONS are MADE HERE. Speaks volumes about the mindset of our staff and program.

Speaking of PATs and field goals, I have heard very little about our kickers. We all know how tight the CAA games are, so this worries me. Last I heard was that Segers is injured. Any news on this front?

Trau shanked a couple in the Tuesday scrimmage.

You need to change your name to SpiderKick.

yes, everyone has high expectations for this team and they deserve that but are only expectations and not wins. we all know how tough this conference is and we will most definitely have to not just think it but show it. like all teams, we have some holes but this could be special, am hoping for it but also know the other side of the coin. by being realistic, helps me from kicking the dog and beating my grand kids if expectations are not met. ;)

you would have to ask them. actually, life events some time ago allowed me, forced me, to put things into perspective and life has been much better since that time and though am still rabid, fanatic, realism rules. realism is not low expectations, it is knowing, understanding, that anything can happen no matter how much we know and feel about something.

Is there room for optimism within realism?

GEEZ, what do you guys feel realism, being realistic, means? it is not down in the dumps thinking all is lost and we have no chance. it is only being aware that anything can happen so don't think everything you wish or think is going to happen is written in stone. have been around a long time, have seen everything, games we had won, lost, games we were favored by double digits, lost, games we were big underdogs on the road, won, games we should not have won, won. none of my teams, ever in my lifetime, have gone undefeated so would never predict that........SERENITY NOW
