But we are above the PreTarrant standard 692-706 .494%

but remember DT came only 9 years after the opening of the RC. We ended the Mills era, Sloan tried to get there to fast, then Goetz never got traction. DT came in with the Interim label and a chip on his shoulder. His military style discipline worked, not sure it would work today.

I think more important is this.

Mooney - 2 NCAA (sweet 16) and 3 NIT.
Wainwright - 1 NCAA and 1 NIT
Beilein - 1 NCAA and 2 NIT
Tarrant - 5 NCAA (1 sweet 16) and 4 NIT.

What is amazing about Tarrant's time - he coached 12 seasons. Only 3 seasons with no post-season. Mooney has coached 16 seasons. We have 7 with no post-season and that becomes 10 if you don't count the CBI, which didn't exist for Tarrant. Not to mention - we are also playing in a better league for more bids, something Tarrant did not have as well.

Tarrant was a great coach, but we played in a weaker league. 4 of his NCAAs came from winning the conference and we typically received a 12th through 16th seed, which showed lack of respect for the program. We had some tremendous wins in the NCAA, which made me very happy, but I always disliked being considered a Cinderella team. I viewed it as meaning lower quality program that occasional wins a big game. During this time we lost a majority of our games to crosstown rival VCU. We should always be in the best conference possible and the A10 was a big step up.

Seeing the winning percentages of a coach isn't as important to me as final computer ranking. This is the best indication of how we ranked nationally. Watching the Spiders play makes me happy and I get more enjoyment out of watching 30 regular season games than a few post-season games. That is not to say I don't get excited when we make one of the national tournaments. When we hopefully make the NCAA next year as part of the A10, we will have a much better seed than during the Tarrant years and have more respect nationally.

Our program is on the up swing and it started with improved recruiting beginning with the Sherod/Golden class. It took 2 years to result in wins, but now we have high quality depth of talent, which will lead to the best years of Spider basketball going forward.

Is this a real post?

True - Tarrant played in a weaker league. But then again - Tarrant did have 1 at large bid in the weaker league to his credit. Guess how many at-large bids Mooney has - just 1. In a better league with multiple bids each year. Wainwright has the other at-large bid for the Spiders thanks to his ridiculous scheduling.

you ignore they were in a higher ranked league at that time, and if I recall the H2H was 9-13. I don't deny recruiting appears to have improved, but we really don't know what we have with our recruits until they have played for several years. So you may be right and you may be wrong. But in the end the adage "what have you done for me lately" is the rallying cry for many fans

And the answer is 0-10

I guess we can expect a better next year. I have been told this story many times before. By being better would mean an NCAA tournament bid to me. I don't see any actual goals being made for each season. Instead, it's we compete and win some ball games. We get some national attention and media exposure. Everyone has a different goal in mind. Find new fans and continue to promote the middle of the pack

We’re in a better league because of what Tarrant started and Beilein completed....and wouldn’t it great if we had a shot of getting in the big east? It won’t happen under Mooney

Tarrant vs Mooney. Two things come to mind:
“Don’t love me, play as hard as you can for me for 40 minutes, every time you play.”
“Player Development “

It amazes me how some folks have put their allegiance to a coach over the success of our program and in some respects the University. And will twist facts and throw our time greatest coach, Tarrant, under the bus to do it.

Are the little personal connections you have with Mooney and Queally really worth it? I guess they are.

Yes, 3 at large bids in the history of the program. We would have had 2 more if it wasn't for Covid and injuries over the past 2 years and Gilly is going to lead us to one in 21-22. It is a great time to be a Spider!

1. We were firmly on the bubble in 2020. Many experts agreed we had work to do in the A-10 tourney. Some saying that we needed to make it to the A-10 finals.
2. Plenty of teams dealt with covid pauses and injuries this year. You don’t get credit for making a tournament when you didn’t make the tournament.
3. I hope so! Would love to see us dancing in 2022.
4. It’s always a great time to be a Spider!

We played under the exact same circumstances as every other team this year with COVID, there was an NCAA tournament, we were not invited to play in it. It is a great alternative reality that you have created for yourself.

I hope you are just trolling us for you own amusement, if not, I would suggest some professional help.

We've gone from participation trophies to trophies for things that NEVER happened. Crazy world.

Interesting, I didn't realize that every team lost 4 of their top players including 2 all-conference players and one of the top 3 point shooters in the country, along with 3 covid pauses. The positive is that a vast majority of fans and the administration understand the true story.

We lost Sherod before the season, it sucks but we had all season to adjust. And yes plenty of teams deal with injuries and other things throughout the year to a good player. The rest of the team we had basically all season and we weren't a NCAA team. The injuries to Golden and Francis came after we no longer had at large chance and were playing poorly, but you know this.

Also the only reason we had this team in the first place was due to INJURIES.

You can have a trophy for something that never happened. The Easter Bunny will bring it to you Sunday!

A while back I said there will always will be a reason. Some reasons repeat, some are new, but there will always be a reason why something didn't happen. I'm waiting for the time when we can say something did happen for a reason. Not sure when that will ever be.

You're right, some teams lost their top three scorers to transfer and withdrawal during the season, and then beat us in the A10 tournament.

It was going to be a great until covid hit! Every team basically had some sort of covid pause.
I guess VCU gets a trophy for making the tournament. Even though, covid knocked them out. Mooney gets a free pass for the injuries and covid. Going 16 years with basically being .500. Vcu has dominated us the past several years. I guess the reason is academics. We have strict academic reasons.

This, exactly. Losers make excuses. Winners just win.

You may be Queally's boy, and I don't care how many millions or billions you have but your allegiance to Mooney and Paul over the school and program is losing, and frankly soft as hell. But enjoy the losing.

There is no "disrespect" in being considered a Cinderella team. Nothing in sports does more for a school's national renown than a tourney run. Ask the AD or president of Abilene Christian, Oral Roberts, or North Texas if they are perceived as a "low quality" program.

Low seeds are better than no seeds.

Nobody nationally cares what our computer ranking is at the end of the year. I doubt very much Charles Barkley considers our 1984 program inferior to our 2021 team, no matter what the computers say.
