relieved to see the Spiders take care of the out manned Hawks tonight...ODU and Radford were out manned too and we could not put either away...maybe we're just better on the Robins Center court..but maybe we snapped out of the holiday lethargy?

it'll be interesting to see if we can build on this win and play well Sunday at Rhode Island...

our guards dominated the game on both ends of the court...I don't remember 27 points off of 21 turnovers lately...

Wojcik had another impressive game...the two threes he made to help jump start the 26-4 run to end the first half were big as was the perfect game by the Spiders from the foul line (14-14)...who has been working with these guys?

on to Rhode Island...I believe it'll be their A-10 opener and I expect we'll get their best game...an upset win would be huge...

Go Spiders!

Also, Gilly vs Fatts is gonna be one of the best player v player matchups in all of the A10 this year. Excited to watch Gilly show his dominance!

I don’t consider beating Rhodey an upset. Go up to RI and do work!
Before last night it would have been an accomplishment.
They beat Bama and Providence, had only losses to Maryland, West Virginia, LSU.

St. Joes is not very good. I think Lange will be a good hire for them - but they are 2 years away from being competitive in the A10. They will return everyone next year and will give him a year to recruit - which I think he can do in the Philly area being from that area and coaching with the 76ers.

Bright spot for the Spiders - Wojcik. We need some spark off the bench and the past 2 games he has provided it. Sometimes a shooter just needs a little streak to get going and maybe this is what has happened to him. Last 2 games he is 7-8 from deep.

On to URI - even with bad loss to Brown last night, in likley they were overlooking Brown on the road - URI is 6-0 at home and we generally do not fair well away from the Robins Center. Expect URI to be favored in this one by 1-2 points.

Counting on spider 23 to cheer us onto victory = playing at Rhody is not easy......................

This is what you're supposed to do to an inferior opponent. Great win for the guys after sliding the last 2 weeks. On the road at URI will be a big test.

St. Joes is awful but we did what good teams are supposed to do to bad team, we throttled them. That said, we didn't play a full complete 40 minutes of basketball. We had several segments where we played really poorly (mainly when our 5 starters were in the game). The energy came from our bench last night. I think that is a good sign but also need a couple starters (namely Sherod) to start playing a little better.

I will give it a try. Of course, maybe the best game ever at URI was this one:

We had a blizzard and white out conditions so I ended up staying home. What a great game though. Watching those highlights, we really did have a lot of depth with Butler, Smitty and Martel all able to make huge plays on the wing. We need Francis to do his best Gonzo impersonation in this one. Wow, was he good, and good in big games and vs big opponents. Like I said on the other thread, I think this one is going to come down to the battle of the back courts.

Damn, that was sweet to rewatch 23. And your Francis-Gonzo comparison is spot on. Gonzo had a bit of a different game than Francis, with a bit more range and ability to take a guy to the hoop and just shield him vs. Francis mid range game, floaters and reliance upon his speed in transition.

But they are very similar in how much you will hear their names in highlight packages, making plays. That team had an NBA draft pick and one of our two all time best players on it, but the name you hear by far the most in the highlights is Gonzo.

Very similar to Gilyard and Golden being our two stars, but anyone who watches our games, knows that Francis is the undersung hero, who is probably making the most plays on a nightly basis.
