congrats to our guys for winning the biggest game at the Robins Center since 2011...
I don't think any of our guys had ever played in a game like this...bitter rival...A-10 top tier implications...giant NCAA At-Large implications...the team responded with the best game long effort I have seen in years...they stepped up magnificently
we got nearly every loose ball...won big rebounds on the defensive boards and contested nearly every Ram shot...amazing defense...the Spiders stopped the Rams with a big play every time it appeared they might make a run...
Jacob Gilyard was his usual impressive self on both ends of the court...besides his five steals he helped pressure, or disrupt the VCU offense the entire game...
and do you think Blake Francis made a difference?...not only what his ball handling brought, but in addition to his points his threat took the pressure off of Sherod...Nick was clutch on both ends of the court...his threes at the beginning of the game put VCU in a hole they could never play out of...
and while handing out game balls, how about Grant Goldens' double-double and effort on both ends of the court?...he stepped and was the best big man on the court...
we have earned third place in the A-10 and a place in the NCAA At-Large Bubble discussion...now we need to protect it with more of what we saw tonight...it won't be easy, but these guys have proven they can do it! It's a great feeling after all these years...
Congrats to all...
Go Spiders!
