This was an incredibly tough day. One of my toughest as a Spider fan. So much to play for and so much opportunity and not much went right. Hope Kyle has a full and speedy recovery. I love that kid.

Some thoughts...

-The overflowing porta potties in the WM Hall lot were a really bad omen for the day. WTF?
-The General Spidey Flag was impressive. Did that belong to a spidernation poster?
-Really impressive turnout of Spider supporters.
-Losing Kyle was brutal and it sucked the life out of everyone. Do quarterbacks practice sliding? So many injuries to quarterbacks on plays just like that.
-CAA Officials: Brutal again. I'm writing to the league office about it and i do not normally do stuff like that. Please do the same. We all deserve better.
-Keith Gill. Chatting and laughing on the sideline after the atrocious targeting call. This guy just doesn't get it, unfortunately. How long is his contract?
-The targeting penalty on Rubin. Atrocious call and was the difference in the game. Not only did we lose the touchdown but we lost Rubin - one of our best defenders.
-Why the quick hook on Clise? The pitch to Thompson was bad but what else did he do wrong?
-#16 was not ready for the moment. We better have a better game plan back there next week.
-Credit the Tribe for putting us to bed when they got the opportunity. A worthy and respectful rival.

The season is not over but it did feel like it around 3pm this afternoon. We need to regroup and i hope it is with #7 under center next Saturday. CIRCLE THE WAGONS.

Mo, please share the email address of the CAA official we should send our concerns to. This has been an issue all year.

The CAA offices are located at the corner of Patterson and Parham. A hand delivered protest letter would be more effective. Or even a picket line.

Of the many questions from today, the biggest one I have is how could we have not had a plan for if Kyle went out? It seemed as if the whole team panicked. Losing the starting QB happens to a lot of teams. Not having a plan just seems completely unacceptable.

Perhaps I'm being too harsh on the coaches but it felt like we unprepared today. And that is really disappointing.

I mostly agree with this point. That said, Plan B had been Broadus until 5pm last Friday. We might have actually seen Plan C today. Time for Plan D.

I find Gill to be an embarrassing hire. I remember being introduced to him shortly after he came here by a school official, and he didn't even look at me or acknowledge me in any way. Nothing about him impresses me, so I'm not surprised about his antics on the sidelines

Hard to win with 3rd and 4th string QBs in the CAA.

I see our depth chart at QB like this..

Lauletta
Broadus
Johnson (RS)
Clise
Mancuse (RS)
Chenault

We ran most of the half with a 6th string QB. Let that sink in.

Honestly, its as if we don't even have an AD. Vacant position. Loads of good people in that department carrying his water. All of it.

Agree SpiderRick! The sooner we can this Gill guy the better! What does he do other than draw a paycheck and benefits from the university? As far as I can tell, not much!

What happened to Clise? Kid got pulled real quick. His INT was a good throw that the receiver botched.

If Clise got hurt than I understand the panic. If he just wasn't ready...that's the fault of the coaching staff. They had 8 days to figure out this scenario. Not 8 hours.

The AD trend is upsetting. Seems like a sharp downward trend from Boone to Miller to Gill. Is Cooper the next man up?

Transsexual is a derogatory term, it's transGENDER.

Where are the PC police? Did they all quit when Trump won?

I said it then, and still say it to this day: AD job should've went to David Walsh -- no question, especially after all of the hard work he has done in his time on campus.

Instead we got Mr Invisible...the yes man.

Kyle is one of the few passers in Division I football that can attack a defense deep down the field with consistency. You can't replace that without significantly altering the offense. That said, play calling certainly looked like a concession after the injury. As someone who was in the stands, that was embarrassing.

Walsh: still the guy doing the hard work.

Close has bad shoulder couldn't throw ball more than 10 yards before entering game.

Gill was interviewed at halftime of basketball game and said it was great to be selected as one of the 26 (twenty-six) best teams in the country. Geez.

am sure that the coaches prepared our backup as much as they could but nobody knows how a young man will handle being thrown into the fire. the bama vs usc game at the beginning of this season had the top rated qb in the country in high school starting as a redshirt frosh and he looked like a deer in headlights. the key is what they do in a game, not in practice and nobody knows. heck, we are bound to have some high school qbs on the roster who could come in and play wildcat all game long with some passes in for good measure. the coaches will come up with something but does not mean it will translate to the game.

Definitely no downward spiral from Boone to Miller. Miller proved to be our best AD in history. Just look around you. After Miller , yes,its downward big time.

the Curtis Jefferson miracle came up in another thread last week...who knows there might be another Jefferson out there somewhere on the roster?...

if there is, I hope we can save him for ND...we might be able to beat NC A&T with Deontez and a conventional QB but I'm expecting a 60 minute battle...

What do you get when you divide a whit by 2?
