Really Providence coach?

Isn't he already behind the 8 ball a bit because of the COVID year and everyone returning. You had guys like Wilson, Bailey, probably even Randolph, etc thinking they would play this year - but with the COVID year, everyone returned and push their playing time back a year.

So next year - depending on who returns, but lets assume the major minutes go to Goose, Burton, Grace, Crabtree - we will still be depending on likely 4 guys who have played hardly at all the past 2 years. I think the hope was this year Wilson and Bailey would get some minutes - but that just never happened. So really next season will be like their 1st year playing in games.

Wouldn't shock me if someone enters the portal and frees up another chance to find a plug-and-play guy.

Has anyone seen a post game press conference where the winning coach doesn’t say the losing coach is a good coach? Pretty sure it is standard practice to be complimentary of the other coach and team always. Not sure why this is being read into so much, does anyone actually believe these comments will in any way affect our administrations decisions regarding Mooney? The amount of anger here is insane.

I’d love to see us bring in a big man and a 3 point specialist. both will definitely be needs going into the season. Also, Next year we won’t have 5 guys getting between 26-40 minutes a game, so how about a lot of rotation which would allow us to play the defense we just saw all season long.

We see VCU do it every year due to their recruiting. This year they had 10 players average 10+ minutes a game. With how many guys we’ll have on the roster why not try it out? I just want to see us always play defense like that

Yes, it will be used as justification to support his extension and raise.

Notice that I didn't say that it should be used, but that it will be. Mooney wasn't going to be let go this year anyway, but comments like this will absolutely be used to reinforce the belief system that is already in place.

"Our administration" has walked out of the bathroom with toilet paper on their shoes and not noticed for the past 5 years. So, color me suspect, where they get their information and what influences them. And our BOT president and chief Mooney backer things we play in a "mid-major" conference, so yeah, the guys we have in charge are not the most worldly when it comes to college basketball.

Well, Mooney seems to always play a short bench. This year we started the year & he went deeper than normally, but as the year progressed, Moon kept shortening it & reverted to his norm.

Maybe with us losing major minute players this year - maybe next year Moon goes deeper due to relative lack of game time minutes & youth. Hard to say, but I'd never bet on a Moon 10 man rotation.

1 year in 11 or 12 shouldn't reinforce the belief system that is already in place no matter the comments or not of an opposing coach.

1 in 11 or 12 statistically defies sound reasoning.

Agree it isn’t what we would typically see from him. Assuming everyone who can return does, we return 2 guys who played 16+ minutes and four guys who played 8+ minutes.

Going to be interesting to see where those minutes go but I hope we really spread them out. I don’t see us having 4 guys next year who average 26+ minutes like this year.

Larrenaga, right?
Miami in NIT. Oh Boy, do I remember this one. Was traveling which did a lot back then. Hanging around a column in the concourse watching TV outside an airport lounge to see every second before dashing to boarding gate. Spider crowd on TV was totally plugged in and was jealous couldn't be there. As I recall we were up comfortably at half, when debarked found we had lost. In air connections were not then what they are now. Was a lonely drive home from the airport.

you guys are funny. I certainly wouldn't expect Cooley to say anything negative about Mooney, but if he did you'd be all over it.
but if a highly respected coach instead says positive things about Mooney then he's wrong. or a frat brother. or has an ulterior motive.

so our season finally ended. later than a few here really wanted, it they're honest. now those few can go back to the repetitive, daily complaining they enjoy so much for the next 8 months.

And 8 more months with you constantly complaining about other posters because they don't agree with your opinions.

Lots of humor on here, that’s what makes it fun. Reminds me of the the old dorm days with the New York and New Jersey kids bantering back and forth.

They were busing in the kids from NY/N even way back then K?
