I agree also Mo but Kyle may have run especially in first half, more due to his off
day passing. His two interceptions on long passes were unusual due to fact they were thrown short.
Was there a lot of wind or just simply poor judgement? Unfortunately not one of KLs better throwing
days.
I think he was running for survival a lot, but on blitzes we needed the tight end and backs getting ballKyle did throw two deep passes up for grabs that I'm sure he regrets. That being said i did not think he had a poor throwing day. He made some unbelievable plays with both his arm and his legs. The pass on third down in the first OT had to be perfect and it was. The running touchdown in the third quarter quarter was all effort on his part after everyone was covered. Some other runs were simply for survival or due to rolling out and having no open receivers. Kyle is a true competitor who because of our running game being non-existent, often times tries to do too much as he has to carry this team. The real critique needs to be on the play calling and offensive line. No excuse with a passing game like we have that we can't run the ball to some extent.
Durden had a big, durable QB in Chatty for 4 years named Jacob Huseman(2012,2013,2014,2015).Russ’ kid brought in a ton of W’s with his running and passing abilities which elevated the UTC program nationally during that timeframe.

I knew that Russ' son was good, but good grief what a list of accomplishments! How old is his younger son and does he play football?
I agree but a QB that can run is a great asset, think of all the holes Ward got us out of with his feet.IMHO, a running QB will not work for long in FCS. The likelihood of concussions and injuries are too great. Lauletta cannot make up for a poor running game.
But when Lauletta lowers his shoulder to run over a defender, he is asking to get hurt. Last year in the W&M game, Lauletta blew out his knee running down the field on a play similar to one in the Delaware game. It is stupid for Coach to jeopardize the team that way.I agree but a QB that can run is a great asset, think of all the holes Ward got us out of with his feet.
If I remember correctly Lauletta's knee injury was a non contact thing, right? If he wants to play at the next level he's going to have to prove he is at least minimally mobile. Right now he's doing what he has to do to win, I admire the spirit. But when Lauletta lowers his shoulder to run over a defender, he is asking to get hurt. Correct, non contact injury in open field making what appeared to be a fairly routine cut.If I remember correctly Lauletta's knee injury was a non contact thing, right? So we're going to protect Lauletta at the cost of winning games?
Huesman should coach to the strength of his team. Making Lauletta into a running QB does not do that. If Lauletta is injured, they have said that Kevin Johnson will burn his red shirt. How is that good for the team?If I remember correctly Lauletta's knee injury was a non contact thing, right? Agree. I can only recall 3 or 4 called QB runs all year. The rest of his runs appear to tuck, scramble, avoid the sack type runs. If your QB can't do that, he should be on the swim team. How is Kyle being "made into a running quarterback"?
Frankly if we don't start winning...... this week, Mancuso would probably get the nod if anything happened to Lauletta.Huesman should coach to the strength of his team. Coach in his pregame comments said they were going to run Lauletta on more designed run plays today. Several times, Kyle lowered his shoulder to run over linebackers. This is a terrible mistake. The risk is too great for an injury to Lauletta. JMHO.
exactly mo; when your backs to the wall, you do what ever it takes to win (elimination game).it was a great game plan to confuse the 2nd best D in FCS. when kyle rolled out to the edge he has a run/pass option. with a short/medium pass attact this O is very hard to defend. We won the game largely because of his running yesterday. Would you rather just shut down the season?
This is football.
It sounds good until he blows out his knee again. The short passes are there. They were there yesterday, while Lauletta was in the pocket. Bob Black pointed it out several times.exactly mo; when your backs to the wall, you do what ever it takes to win (elimination game).it was a great game plan to confuse the 2nd best D in FCS. when kyle rolled out to the edge he has a run/pass option. with a short/medium pass attact this O is very hard to defend.
exactly stone d, because we hit the nova D with a strong running game. JMU will now have to prepare for kyle running read/option, in the backfield, or rolling him out on the edge. in past games our opponents have all run to the running back eliminating our running game.they took off on first read. understand your point and nobody waned KL running especially me during the season, but its now' all in ' 7th game of the WSIt sounds good until he blows out his knee again. We've got two games left in the season and we're struggling so are we playing to win or keep Lauletta from having any chance of getting hurt. I mentioned before, I believe his injury last time was a non-contact, so he shouldn't run?It sounds good until he blows out his knee again. The short passes are there. We are going to have to agree to disagree.I mentioned before, I believe his injury last time was a non-contact, so he shouldn't run?
