Post Game Celebration

Yes and at the pregame gathering at Boylan Heights, which is a huge UVA hangout, a group of undergradute Spider ladies started chanting "We Are UR" which was a great pregame warmup.

Can somebody check the rushing stats? I think Coach Rocco out rushed the Hoos trying to avoid the Gatorade cooler!
For some reason, ESPN counts all our negative rushing plays but not UVA's so they have 38.
We get 194 - 7 for 187.

Congrats to the coaching staff and players! I am very proud to be a Spiders alum and the team really showed up today on in all areas - offense, defense and special teams. Hopefully the start of something big. Next up - Norfolk State for the home opener.

AWESOME DAY. Spiders dominated both lines and it wasn't even close. Team is focused, has leadership and a ton of talent. I would usually be worried about a let down next week, but not with this bunch. Wide receivers are for real and KL is special. Awesome day!

Dominating performance by spider players and coaching staff today. Controlled the line of scrimmage on o and d. O executed even when va seemed to know what was coming.
Reserved celebration after a big win. These guys know this was just the first step towards reaching a bigger goal. They appeared very focused and were clearly better prepared and without a doubt, the better team.

I got a kick out of the ACC announcers trying to make excuses.
"Tom, with the high academic standards that UVA has, can they win the ACC?"
I guess we're just chopped liver when it comes to our academic standards.
All of you on this board that thought you graduated from a school with high academic standards,
I'm sorry - you're a bunch of dummies like me.

Clip from SVPs late night sportscenger was great. Will need someone else to post the link from ESPN but includes some great quotes like "this was no accident".

. Yes, and 2 minutes into this clip, the Uva player clearly targeted Lauletta. He put his helmet under Lauletta's chin and drove Kyle to the ground.

What a great day in C-ville. We were the more physical and better team by a wide margin yesterday.

Which makes it even more special that we beat 85 scholarship players and the 7 or 8 officials working the game. Oh, and we beat ESPN, too.

Stonewall - I don't like it all the way these games are called and hear you loud and clear. We had 8 penalties for 70 yards and they had 0 penalties. Most egregious non-calls were Lauletta being leveled on at least 3 occasions after passing the ball and as you pointed out the helmet was under the chin on the play in the clip and the other run play close to the goal line when our player's head turned on the tackle which had to be a face mask. Fortunately no injuries and we won the game but there is no excuse for such lopsided refereeing. Can't say I have made peace with it but unfortunately it is what happens when we play UVA.

Yes. He also complimented us on our "clean" look.

Agree totally with PawleysSpider - that is the best post about this game. Also liked what Coach had to say in post game interview about not knowing he could move that fast.

We were there. This was dare I say an "ass whuppin". A uva fan noted that our guys were just as big and fast as their guys. Ran into one of my former classmates who played in the offensive line in the late '60's. He said that our line manhandled uva. More importantly, after getting back to the hotel room in Richmond for a night cap, I didn't run out of peanuts. Roll d@mn Spide! OSC

Thanks 32. Tyler Wilkins is my new favorite Spider, very humble and grounded. Great interviews from both players.
After watching the game again on ESPN3, I saw that the pitiful announcers thought that Brown made every catch. Took them two quarters to find out there was a 17, 11 and 82 that were also catching balls.

Announcers on ESPN3 were awful. Obvious UVA bias and obviously did not do their pre-game preparation very well.

Tom Obrien I never thought was a particularly great coach either. Not any better as an announcer. Then again, these guys were ACC network doing an ESPN3 game...not likely going to be the best crew.

To Obrien's credit, he did state that the Spiders were "beating the snot" out of UVA as Collins crossed the goal line.
