I have started to wonder about what some of our players opinions of Mooney and his staff are. I guess some didn't think too highly of him if they left (Kwhan, Buck). It is a very interesting thing to think about because I know our guys are smart as far as basketball goes, hell they're D1 basketball players. If us as fans can see so well what Mooney is doing wrong and how big of a dumpster fire our program is surely the players can too right? If they do see it and I'm sure they do, do they suggest any new strategies about either on the court stuff or even recruiting? I know if I was a player on this team I would be doing both of those things. I hope these guys don't just have blind loyalty to Mooney and his dumpster fire of a program. Our guys are smarter than that.
 
From what I have seen, Mooney is very open to player input. He let TJ take the lead in timeouts often for example.

Most players who have played for Mooney have nothing but good things to say, some going so far as defending him and his coaching ability publicly. The players I have talked to personally have all had good things to say about him. The only public negativity I can think of from a player was Solly, mostly his dad. I don't think many people would publicly bash a former coach though.
 
agree they wouldn't bash, but many former Spiders go out of their way to thank and praise CM. you wouldn't do that if you felt otherwise.

Buck didn’t leave. He was expelled from the team for his transgressions.

I know many ex-Tarrant players who didn't care for him at all as a person (he was exceedingly difficult to play for, very demanding) but respect the hell out of him as a coach and for what he accomplished with our program.

I'm not sure folks feel that same way about CM.

Based on what evidence? Obviously plenty of fans dislike CM but he seems to be well liked by many of his current and former players.

I’m not really sure anyone cares that much if the coach is well liked so long as he wins.
 
Got to love him, you get free tickets in the section behind the bench for life

T, can honestly say that I know of no fan that dislikes Chris Mooney. We clearly hang in different circles.

I'd say about 1/2 to 2/3 of Spiders fans cannot stand Mooney. Say nothing, no accountability. 180 degrees from Tarrant. Did you follow Richmond basketball during the Tarrant era Ulla? I'm guessing not, but please fill me in.
 
Players and fans are two different perspectives, so hard to compare. I remember speaking to some JW players when he left and we were all bashing JW and still are sometimes on this board - but just about every player I talked to love the guy as a coach. And then you get some of his leftover players that played under Mooney and they couldn't stand Mooney - probably because he was not "their" coach. So I would expect the same for Mooney - they came to the school for a reason and Mooney is one of them, so I would expect the majority of players to defend and respect him.

Chemistry should be fine. Hopefully, we won't have to worry about anyone having chemistry and momentum disrupting one game suspensions this year.

Yet, we sold out several games and had great fan support despite having our worst season in several years. I would think there would be a few more than 4 or 5 always negative fans jump on this board and vent if what you were saying were anywhere close to the truth.

Perhaps I phrased that poorly.

“There are many fans who do not care for Chris Mooney as our basketball coach.”

This is an objectively true statement.
