I know this is a Spiders message board, but with slow news on the hoops front at the moment, I thought this story is of interest in the A10. To be honest, I find it a little iffy, and fully expect some kind of weird stuff to be found out going on behind the scenes.

Latest commitment for Umass brings the total of players at, or at least committed in the last 2 years to 8 coming in from Woodstock Academy. Umass hired Woodstock Academy HC Tony Bergeron as an assistant prior to last season. I get that this happens a lot, I mean USC just hired top recruits father, happened with Danny Manning and Kansas. But to have 8 guys follow this path, seems fishy to me. Per a bunch of message board chatter and some articles I have seen, Bergeron is or was dating Tre Mitchell's mom. One guy who was at Woodstock, that got away was URI freshman Jacob Toppin. You may recall there was a little skirmish following the Umass-URI game this year.
Anyway, just wondering if anyone finds this odd? I could see Bergeron getting a 2, 3 guys to follow him, but 8???? Seems excessive. McCall basically fired his entire staff 2 years ago, and brought in Bergeron. Berg must have a nice recruiting err umm budget
