  • Season ticket holder shirts are incredibly cheap. Given the Exodus of ticket holders, reward those that still buy. I'm even willing to pay a little more for my shirt if it's better material. As it stands now, the shirts will go in the rag bin at home.
  • Build-up to game felt a little off last night.
  • Liked the additions of video boards on the backboards.
  • Baseball did a great job of leading student section. Build on this.
  • Crowd was good at end of game. Hope we can build on that too.
  • Traffic inflow was slow...outflow was great.
  • Bojangles...this is the umpteenth time I haven't gotten a coupon leaving the game out the bottom. Can we work an arrangement where we can give our tickets at the location for the free food?

Agree with all of this.

VCU is able to give out better quality shirts to the whole crowd, multiple times a season. They also do a much better job with slogans for the shirts. I know they have sponsors and logos all over the back of the shirt, but I still prefer that to the season ticket holder shirts of the past few seasons. I would also like to see us have more red outs, white outs, etc. They were marketing "wear red" for this game, but then gave out white shirts to students...?

I was sad to see how many season ticket holders were not back. Can't fault people for giving up, but was surprised since I have sat around the same folks for many years.

Overall, thought it was an exciting game and glad we got the W. Obviously a lot to work on for the team, but I don't think they would have had the fight to come back in years past. Crowd seemed more into supporting the team and we had a good student turn out, would like to see these things continue.

The bojangles coupons are a joke.

The build up to the game stood out to me. They axed the video with all the cartoon spiders (which I see as a positive, but others may disagree). I thought using the drum right before tip off, instead of before player introductions, seemed out of place.

I was somewhat surprised by the number of empty seats. I knew attendance would be down after two bad years, but the home opener is one of two games we can usually count on being close to a sell out crowd. Hopefully if we keep winning, more and more people will come out for future games.

Why can't we get the scoreboard to work for an entire game, like ever. This has been a problem since we installed them and yet we still haven't fixed it.

And yes a noticable drop in attendance from previous home openers. I saw them report 6600, that is laughable. Maybe there was 5000 there last night.

Spider MJ. I agree. St Francis guy bought a ticket at the window and sat with us where we have had season tickets for decades. He was a nice fella, but we know the VCU punks will not be. Not looking forward to that.

Ok I must know what do u get with the infamous Bojangles coupon?

I also liked the video boards on the backboard stanchions. Maybe my age is a factor here, but almost every time I noticed them there was an ad for Woodys Funeral Home showing. That hit a little too close to home...
Remember our local fan base is largely elderly...60 years and older due to UR admission policy "Virginians need not apply" that was in vogue from 1980s to around 2010.

Is that for real? Yes they went heavy on the wear red. Handing out white t shirts makes no sense.

I think the effort is there with marketing. We have small demo it’s not easy but the execution is rough. I mean also look at the I95 billboard they said putting up. Plain Jane billboard to the core. Unless it’s just a celebratory thing it should be there to get people to take an action.

What brand is the shirt? I’ll tell you if it’s cheap or not.

Believe I did see Bobby at the game for the first time in years.

That said, it's a super cheap, basic cotton material. Rag bin. Don't care who provided it. Again, I'm willing to pay more for a short I'll actually wear.
LOL, Buy from the store and some of the money goes to the Spiders. Quit being cheap and buying season
tickets just to get a shirt. Ha ha ha

Agree but why offer a shirt to season ticket holders in the first place then, if said shirt is just a cheap piece of trash. It is kind of insulting to have a season ticket perk be something that you just throw away. I'd rather just not get anything at all.

Speaking of shirts, where did you get it. Not that I want it after you description, I presume, my shirt will be first doused in Rob Jones urine before it is given to me though.

I find it amusing to see the line of people picking up such terrible shirts (around section 22). That being said it is a decent shirt for my 9 year old, my older two wouldn't be caught dead in them. P.S. terrible shirt for even a rag, it will scratch your car, ....maybe for an oil rag?. Just once I would like to see a nice dry-fit.

I will say that my first game my freshman year (2012) that I attended in the student section (I believe it was against UNC-Wilmington) they handed out those "Livestrong" type bracelets before the game but they were red and say SPIDERS with the Nike swoosh. I still to this day have it on my wrist 7 years later.

I can't say much about the shirts since they usually made me itch but at least the wristband that one time was good quality!
