So on the podcast Noah makes some pretty big statements citing a source.
I have no idea about the validity, but when questioned by Joe Dickens he cites All the President's Men.
I'm not claiming to be a Watergate authority, but Woodward & Bernstein did a ton of legwork backchecking sources. They needed multiple people on record to corroborate before taking anything public. (Great movie by the way)
Noah has access. Go talk to the players themselves.

I didn't listen to the podcast yet - when they first post it it always seems to have technical difficulty. But I did see that teaser. That is really not a big shock to me. I bet there are five guys that would leave now if the price is right. Say Euro contract for 3 years 950,000? You don't think we have five players that would jump on that? I don't think any of our guys are going to get anything that crazy, but considering the uncertainty around the season lesser offers could look more attractive.

Delaware's best player (Darling) put his name in the draft - then was coming back - but ultimately decided to stay in. He was likely CAA pre season POY. Likely prompted by uncertainty of covid college season, and likely can get a contract overseas b/c highly doubt he will be drafted in NBA. But I think if guys have a pro opportunity in this uncertain climate, it may get a stronger look.

Lot to unpack there. for Joe Dickens where has he been...journalists have been using sources since journalism was practically invented. Unreasonable standard. No player would go on record with that so he couldn't name the source even if it were a player.

on the other hand using Watergate and All the President's Men as justification was over the top. Sman Watergate was the biggest story of its time, it was the Washington Post. Yeah that story needs multiple sources. Richmond Spiders basketball and Noah's podcast do not. It's a limited demo. I trust that he's not making it up. He's earned that credibility. I'm glad we have another reporter spending time on the Spiders to get scoops like this. And frankly the story is not outlandish anyway, players get approached more and more about Europe. They're all here right now and don't see going anywhere unless season was canceled.

If someone wants to rip Noah rip him over that ridiculous take last year - #5 as our ceiling in A10. LOL.

Noah is a very friendly "media" source for our coaching staff. That is why he has the access he does. If he reports it as such, I think it is pretty accurate.

After their sophomore season = the offseason where we lost Khwan and Buck - not too surprising guys would consider leaving then

BREAKING NEWS: If Beyonce wanted to marry me, I would get a divorce.

This is really not even worth discussing. Of course they would leave for a lot of guaranteed pro money.

Agree that the podcast did not contain anything noteworthy, but Noah obviously knows how to bait the listener. One piece of advice though Noah, cut down on the f-bombs. If you want to be taken seriously that is.

Thanks, you just saved me 20 minutes. I do appreciate those guys effort, but the interview I listened to with Mooney really didn't have much of interest either. I feel like he is a bit wary of asking hard questions or being critical of the team at all. I get it, but I guess living between the NY and Boston markets, I am more used to a little more. Heck, Noah is a Mass guy, listen to EEI and use as an example.

maybe this is supposed to be harder hitting journalism than usual for Noah. I've always thought his work has always been in full support of the program. some might consider him too much of a homer. I don't. I like him. but while he didn't throw anyone under the bus naming the player or anything, if I was the target player I still wouldn't be happy this was put out there. it raises questions and speculation.

Noah, stick to 98.5 over EEI.

None of our guys are leaving for Europe. That is a major gamble. First year American players rarely break 100K a year, unless they can get citizenship in that country. And the biggest kicker - none of those overseas contracts are guaranteed. Get hurt or start playing poorly - they can just send you home. Unless they think - play 1 year over there and maybe get a better look by the NBA - but to be honest, and I love the guys on our roster this coming year - but I don't see any of them getting an NBA look. I think they can all have good and lucrative overseas careers - but I don't think they are NBA players or potential NBA Players at this time.
