No Longer On The Bubble

Is that true?

If you mean that is why they returned, you will have to ask them.

Here is our tourney. We have not been in a while, so seems like good time to make a comeback here.

CBI tourney returning to single site format in Daytona Beach. We used to be a regular in this tourney, then got away with it. But I think with this class of super seniors, definitely something we should consider over the NIT as I think we got a good shot of winning this year.

The question is will anyone recognize the names of the other participant teams. All kidding aside, I doubt we ever participate in CBI again, and why would we.

What is better for Mooney's future - a 2nd round exit in the NIT, or a CBI Championship?

Which one looks better from the Compete expectation we have set? He could also sell to administration that remember when we played in the CBI 2 years in a row - guess what happened next??? We made the NCAA 2 years in a row.

So let Spiders play in CBI this year, and hopefully they get invited again next year - and history is bound to repeat itself, right?

History has repeated itself for the last 11 years.

We are going to win the A10 tourney.

Jeez. They each get a night of their own, after last year having a traditional senior night. Anything for the “best class in school history” huh? Nothing like celebrating mediocrity. Next they will retire all of their jerseys.
Great message to the underclassman. Look, you dont have to win anything and we will flood you with praise. Pretty sad.

No cbi!!! We shouldn't even be discussing it!

We aren't and don't think we would consider it. Can you the shame of having to pay for postseason for this group of super seniors? Even with our low standards for competing, I don't think we would dip this low.

Gotta put Gilly's steals record as far out of reach as possible and give Golden a better shot at the 2000/1000 milestone.

If UR decided to play in the CBI, I would imagine that the super seniors wouldn’t play. That tournament is an attempt to get a head start on the next season (getting the young teams more game experience). It definitely isn’t the reason the super seniors came back.

Honestly. If they got in and played without the super seniors it wouldn't be a terrible thing. I just wonder who will coach us?

No objections. But we can't also honor the kids, some of whom are some of the most accomplished individual players ever to wear the uniform? They did NOT in fact get a proper send off last year, but you know, when has factual information ever stopped fatherspider?
I stand by my previous statement. Individual accomplishments are dwarfed by team accomplishments in sports. As a team this group hasnt done much, as we all know. I can guarantee that if a group of five and six year seniors had the record this group does collectively, there is not a Power 6 conference team that would be honoring them in such grandeur. Hell, I can guarantee VCU wouldnt even be thinking of doing such a thing. Mediocrity should not be given such high praise. You say they werent honored properly last year on senior night, fine, have a super senior night, but this is over the top.

The worst possible scenario now would be for this team to make a deep run or win the nit. That would get great praise from the athletic department and they would get treated like they won the national title. Either ncaa or nothing for this group is how it should be.

Honestly for the next 30 or however many years I have left on this rock whenever I look up in the rafters and see that steals record banner it will just remind me of Mooney's incompetence, decades of failure, and "all time greats" that never even sniffed an NCAA tournament. Maybe I should look into season ticket seating that faces away from it.

individual nights is a bit much, but why not? we're not honoring teams they've been on. our teams haven't won enough to be honored. our teams haven't achieved greatness. and of course that's the goal. but individually they've done some amazing things. you can be individually great but still not win championships in a team game.
