Boy, that's too bad. When they showed the replay I think everyone was thinking the worst. Get better Nick, we are pulling for you.

Hopefully he can get medical redshirt, I forget the rule, but so early in the season I would think so.

I believe the rule is that he cannot have played in more than 30% of the team’s games for the season. And he has not so far.

Grant had played 9 games the year he had the heart issue, so I would think medical redshirt is likely unless there's something I'm missing.

What a shame for Nick though, get well soon.

Damn. Nick is a great kid and great player. Really tough break. I watched the play live and there was literally nothing unusual about the play or his movement or anything. Just don't understand how an ACL tears like that, but they do all of the time unfortunately.

I can't wait to see Nick strap them on for us again next year.

Nick praying for your recovery and for you and your family dealing with this. Good thing is recovery is usually 100%. Will miss seeing you play this season but looking forward to future seasons.

Hope that Nick can recover quickly and not have this affect his future career in Richmond but also abroad after graduating.

From where I'm sitting this injury looks like it will be the final nail in Mooney's coffin. Losing Sherod and with Gilyard having what could be a recurring nagging groin injury I don't see us having much of a chance on improving in the win column over last season. Right now the only positives we'll be able to take from this year will be how Cayo has developed and how impressive Wojcik has looked compared to other freshmen.

I am really saddened to hear that, sorry for the team but sorry for a young man that has worked very hard to be in this position. I have no doubts that he will work just as hard towards a full recovery and that The NCAA will grant him a Redshirt year.

Awful to hear for Nick. I wish him the best in his recovery. Two years with a new coach should help motivate him.

Stinks on ice for the present.

I prefer to look at the silver lining: in two years, our senior class that is going to stick around to experience success together under our next coach, is going to be awesome -- Gilyard, Francis, Sherod, Cayo, Golden.

I think this increases Sherod's chances of making a NCAA Tourney.

Other silver lining: Mooney's going to have to play Gustavson and Kourressi more.

This is absolutely terrible news today. Thoughts and prayers to Nick and all of his teammates. I am sure Dr. Young will handle his surgery and Nick will be back better than ever. Good to hear he can get a medical red shirt. Best wishes for a full and fast recovery Nick!

To Nick: You are a fine young man and a fine basketball player. Now, your objectives must focus on rehab. Do what the doctors, trainers, and DeMayo tell you to do, so that they don't have to appeal to a higher power (your mother). Praying for you, my friend!

Of course, my heart goes out to Nick and his family. However, the silver lining is that he may get some good coaching yet before he graduates UR.

can he have a different muscle coach for rehab ?

Nick will come back strong and better than ever. But when one door closes another one opens. Many here have been clamouring to find out what our bench players can provide and whether or not they can develop into quality talent. Now we get to see what we have.

Great player for the program and the leader for this season...tough loss. Hope he comes back even stronger.

Hey Nick

Very sorry for the injury. You are extremely well like by the Richmond Community. You are a great basketball player who has the ability to take over games. You are also a good person that people respect. Thanks for everything you have done for the program so far and we look forward to cheering you on next year. Go Spiders!
